  1. If I was told I needed to lock myself in a house and just answer the phone and stay in shape for four months, in exchange for a 4+ year contract worth multi-millions.... I would have gotten it done when I was 10 years old, 14, 16, 19, or 21. After the character flaws report came out, that's literally all Carter needed to do.
  2. Generally, I subscribe to this belief. That said, I don't foresee Swift receiving an extension. If they do take a running back in the draft, they'll have $6MM or so plus a rookie contract on the books for the next three years. That's not the "paying running backs" that a team should stay away from.
  3. I wouldn't be upset if we gave up both 2s and went up for Anderson. I would be too happy about having Anderson and Hutch as the bookends on that defensive line for the foreseeable future that I'm not sure there is anything they could do to upset me the rest of the draft.
  4. Lol I did see that. My boy is Charlie Campbell though, Walt is just a degenerate gambler.
  5. I'm not even sure it costs that much. Trade value chart would have 3 (2200) minus 6 (1600) needing us to makeup 600. Both 2s would have Arizona +170. #6, a 2023 2nd, and a 2024 3rd might get er done.
  6. I haven't seen a ton of football people hate on the signing. A lot of casual fans will hate it because they loved Jamaal, which, fair. We all loved Jamaal and he's irreplaceable... I think there is a lot of upside with Montgomery as a replacement though.
  7. I'm still all aboard the trading up for Anderson train.
  8. Kind of an odd replacement for Montgomery. Homer has only started two games in his career with Seattle and has three career TDs.
  9. Also hoping Jamaal doesn't land with Chicago, but I think he's the rare guy who would still get a good bit of pregame applause from the Ford Field crowd upon his return.
  10. I think Montgomery will take the role of goal-line / 3rd down / downhill between the tackles back, while Swift remains (or Bijan becomes) the newer generation backfield threat.
  11. Yup. I think Montgomery is likely expected to be a slightly younger and slightly better version of Jamaal Williams at the price point they were comfortable spending.
  12. Little bit surprised by this, but I guess it depends on what he thinks he’s worth. We weren’t going to get him for 2 years / $6MM again.
  13. The secondary might just be alright next season. Walker is looking like a man on a damn mission.
  14. This is why I think Jamaal re-signs sometime this week. It’s not a RB friendly market that justifies a team outbidding others for an RB2. Someone would really need to fall in love with him.
  15. Depends on Love. If he can be halfway decent (which he hasn’t shown to this point), they might be able to hover around .500.
  16. The card is on the other side. Packers have to remind Rodgers he is loved every year.
  17. I'm going to call it now though that the Packers-Jets trade isn't going to satisfy Green Bay fans at all. Something like a 2023 2nd and 5th and a 2024 3rd for Rodgers and a yearly Christmas card.
  18. I've said it before, but I don't think it's even judgment flaws per se that are the fatal flaw to Carter being drafted by the Lions. I think it's the totality of the rumors leaking that he's not a big off-the-field workout machine, followed a month later by this situation, followed by a complete and total lack of accountability... He's immature and relies on his freakish athletic abilities, rather than putting 110% into being the best football player he can be.
  19. FWIW, I don't think it's Sheila that is the primary concern with taking Carter, I think it's Dan, his staff, and the locker room culture he has assembled of no-nonsense, hardworking, kneecap biting football dudes. They're two years into this complete tear down and rebuild, and the rebranding of the Detroit Lions is still a work-in-progress until substantial and tangible differences are seen (e.g., winning a playoff game)... I don't think they are to the point of the Steelers or Patriots, where they can take a Jalen Carter and know that no matter what happens, the culture you've instilled will withstand. In New England and Pittsburgh, the culture and winning ways have been around since before Carter was born and - so long as Belichick and Tomlin are there - will still be there if Carter has to get labeled a bust and cut by 2026. In Detroit, if Carter is toxic to locker room morale, it could be a substantial flaw in what is being built... That's kind of the way I think Allen Park is looking at it at least. It's not exactly the Ford family's MO to sign character concerns, but I get the impression that SHF would not stand in the way of drafting or signing a player who doesn't piss sunshine and rainbows, if that's what Dan and Brad think is best.
  20. Your Matt Patricia Hate Tweet of the Day:
  21. I think it depends on what they think of Okudah. If they don't offer him his 5th year option (which I think they have to decide by May), then they will have a hole at starting corner in 2024 anyway, even if Sutton is still CB1. If they think Okudah is a starter of the future, whether by the 5th year option or otherwise, then we only need depth at the position (other than maybe the slot) until 2025. Corner is a position where you don't like to force a rookie into starting too early, so taking a corner could still play to their advantage. I think the good thing draft-wise about signing Sutton and Moseley is that there is no longer a position group where the issue needs to be forced. At this point I don't see a group that you look at and say "if the Lions don't address this position in the draft, they're totally screwed." It's a good spot to be in, because you can largely go BPA down the line and still be very competitive in 2023.
  22. I'm expecting Walker to be 100% by training camp. He's been active on Twitter throughout his recovery stating that he is ahead of schedule and that he hopes to be on the field by Spring camp (which is the same window Okudah used prior to 2022).
  23. Moseley was probably a top three pure slot corner on the market. He blew out his ACL last October, so obviously it's a prove-it deal, but the last time they signed someone to a prove-it deal it worked out pretty well.
