I had this same thought when I saw he was canned. I think he could be a good addition in an advisory role of some sort, as long as it isn’t creating a “too many cooks” situation.

Vikings and Bears will both be launching rebuilds that are behind the Lions. Green Bay is unlikely to go through a “rebuild” per se, even if Rodgers leaves, but I don’t know if they’ll be successful with Jordan Love at the helm. Detroit Lions your 2023 NFC North Champions?! *sips kool aid*

If we are talking first memories, mine would probably be Orlovsky running out the back of the end zone. I watched games before then, but no real core memories before that one.

As we sit here today, I think the Giants are a more likely trade partner than the Jets. If the Giants want to move on from Jones with whoever becomes the consensus #1 QB, they will likely need to jump the Texans to do so. I would still put the odds of a trade happening with the #2 pick at 10% or less.

He's also going to be 29 later this month, and I don't think we will be signing very many players this offseason to long-term deals. I think this will be another offseason of lots of one-year deals, with one or two two-year deals sprinkled in. I don't think it will be until the 2022-23 offseason when we make a splash with a star or two in positions that remain neglected through the two or three drafts at that point. I wouldn't be opposed if it falls into that plan, but he's not a guy I would deviate for. I think he's more likely to want a 3+ year deal for tens of millions, and I don't think that makes a lot of sense for where we are in the rebuild.

I doubt Aaron Rodgers will even make this trip, so we will likely get our first look at Jordan Love. Maybe we can give up 500 yards and 6 touchdowns to force the Packers to massively overpay his next contract. The Lions should win this, beings that it will be their starters vs. the Packers expendables.

Harbaugh is going to do what Harbaugh is going to do, and whatever he is going to do has ZERO ties to anything that the national media is spewing. Harbaugh has always been a wildcard, but the media (particularly those with the NFL ties) showed their ass when Harbaugh came to Michigan and they all laughed the notion of him returning to college off as a joke until his wheels landed at DTW. If John Bacon starts saying something is up, then I would pay attention. It shocks and offends the NFL talking-heads (and frankly some of the national college ones too) that someone who was successful in the NFL and could have an NFL job if they wanted it is just happier in college. This literally happens every single year. To save you the clicks, those each link to stories rumoring either a possible, soon, or inevitable move to the NFL, from 2021, 2020, 2019, 2018, 2017, and 2016.

February 2nd is a random Wednesday, prior to the Super Bowl... It's a weird date to choose, other than it being Groundhog's Day. I would bet it's the Washington Hogs or Washington Groundhogs. A Google Search also finds that there is a Major League Quidditch team with the name Washington Admirals. I don't know how important MLQ actually is (or fancies themselves to be) but I would have to imagine they at least patent their names.

Whatever the reasoning, this hurts the Bucs. Already without Godwin, they're going to be relying past Evans on a lot of receivers who seem more appropriate on the Lions than the defending Super Bowl champs.

I feel like that's a hard question to answer, because a lot of backup QB duties are never seen by the lay public. The backup is often an integral part of the starter's game week. They diagnose defenses, assist in play-calling, and are an extra mind on the sideline for the starting QB. They're expected to be at least semi-competent if they are forced into action, but if any team's starting QB goes down, you can't be expected to win very many games. That's just the nature of the sport. I would argue the unseen aspects (and a low salary cap hit) are a bit more important in selecting a backup QB than how they perform in the unlucky (and hopefully unlikely) event they are forced to.

He's surprised me this year. We might get to see your wish next year if Rodgers goes to Vegas and takes Hackett with him. Who knows where Carr would end up after that, he's only got one year left on his current deal.

This year's QB draft class is most akin to 2013 or 2014. In 2013, EJ Manuel came off the board at 1.16, Geno Smith at 2.39, Mike Glennon at 3.73, and no one else noteworthy. In 2014, Bortles came off the board at 1.3, Manziel at 1.22, Bridgewater at 1.32, Carr at 2.36, Jimmy G at 2.62, and no one else noteworthy. Every year since has at least one or two QBs emerge as the clear frontrunner to be taken early in the first round. I wouldn't want any of those QBs taken in 13 or 14.

That's fair. I'm going off of look alone, I think they look like a team capable of going further. Look doesn't mean anything if they don't ultimately do something.

Really good to see the fight in the team today. I was thinking earlier that it would be frustrating if a blowout or two per season became a part of the Campbell regime. This climb back (even if ultimately futile) was not to be seen against the Bengals or Eagles.
