Based on??  I know Stafford and the Rams loved what he brought to the room a few years ago. He’s a major reason they won that Super Bowl.

I don’t think he would have been a fit in Detroit anyway, just curious why you said that.

I was wondering this also. I know he has boat loads of confidence and I seem to recall he didn’t mind showing that, but locker room cancer is a different beast entirely…

...I don't think it was Holme's strategy to have a deep secondary, its just the way the draft fell.  That's why I like him.  He went with talent and then when  you have good coaches you have to flexibility to with your strengths.  I would of been fine if Arnold was gone and Turner or Verse slipped more and went with them.

Also, this reminds me of what Campbell and Holmes preached early on. Put players in positions to succeed, don't force players into a plan...plan around the player. Coaches should be able to do this.

And yes...this will be an interesting year for Glenn with this increase in talent.

DPD said two arrests and two juvenile detentions all weekend. That's incredible. Detroit should be proud.

The #'s that attended are even more convincing how much Detroit is a sports town and that pride is generated by our teams. It may be obvious...there is causal relationship (is that correct?) between the success of the Lions and the self esteem the city has, which can be a reason for less stupid acts. I imagine this has been studied somewhere by someone.

Good for Detroit and the Lions. Don't underestimate what Campbell, Holmes and the players have done for not only the team but also the city.

It's a joke based off of Taylor Decker "failing" to report lol. I fell for it last night myself for about 10 seconds when I went looking on Twitter and then the joke hit me.

I'm slower than you apparently!  HA.   Good one.

Happy Draft Day everybody. I'm going down for all three days. Ford Field season ticket party tonight, tickets by the draft stage tomorrow, and just walking around enjoying the atmosphere on Saturday.

Hopefully those thunderstorms stay away this weekend, everyone plays by the rules, and everything goes swimmingly. The city really doesn't need a Kansas City parade situation on its hands.

    Have a great day!

Earlier in this thread I did a rough projection of what I thought St. Brown might get paid. I said 4 year/$92 million with $61 million guaranteed. I had used Deebo Samuel's contract as a comparison for projecting what St. Brown might get. Whoooooo boooooy was I off on my projection. St. Brown certainly got paid today. Being honest, he deserves every cent of what he got as he's been the MVP of this offense the past couple of season. While it is a big deal, that takes up a good chunk of cap space, he is one of those players that deserve that type of big deal.

I think they are going to look for roster savings elsewhere on the roster to compensate for this deal and the future, pending, larger contract for Goff. If the a tackle prospect they like falls to them at 29, I could see them drafting Taylor Decker's replacement so they can have a future RT under team control and not have to pay Decker another big contract.

In two years it will be 4 and 150 as the new bar.  And the cap will rise again and again...give it a few ASB will be a bargain...😄

I disagree, who signed in the offseason that reset the market? Davonta Smith? Amon-Ra was getting $28m+ no matter what.

AND...I wouldn't be surprised if D. Smith just called his agent..."did you see that?"  My gut tells me Smith does not complete that deal if he stays healthy.

Would be ironic to see the Lions trade out of the 1st round the first time that they host the draft.

I like that Holmes has already said that he might need to apologize if he trades out of rd. 1. Shows some great awareness and understanding of the fan point of view.

  10. Like the blue and white versions. The black is better than I expected, but still a distant 3rd. I do like the matte finish on the blue helmet, glad the didn’t go chrome at all.

...Porcher is who I was going to say too. I just looked back on this guys career briefly... poor dude probably thought he was coming into the Lions at just the right time.

1991: Lions make it to the Conference Championship
1992: Lions draft Porcher, but then go 5-11... okay, well, bad seasons happen...
'93, '94, '95: Made the playoffs but bounced in out in the first game. Still, Lions did make the playoffs...
1996: Missed the playoffs, Fontes fired.
'97-00: In and out of the playoffs under Ross, who quits mid-season. Then in comes Millen...

Poor guy thought he was coming into an up and coming team which just sat in "middle of the pack limbo" for most of his career before bottoming out at the end of it.

I was surprised at his stats.  In the 6 years of play between '96-'01 he had 68 sacks.  That's top notch.

Will it be this?   We'll know before the draft

r/detroitlions - Detroit Lions mixtape uniform concept, a mashup of old and new uniforms alike. Doing one for every team. And yes, the Lions have worn blue helmets before.

Looks good if so, as best I can try to visualize it with the helmet and pants combinations.  Back to traditionally styled numbers and outlines. What I hope is they don't make a huge mess by infusing black...felt forced and I never liked it.

It looks like during a conference call with reporters last week Troy Vincent "strongly implied" that it would be treated similarly to the illegal use of helmet rule, where it is more often a fine and letter penalty. ESPN.

If I had to guess, it's going to be - similarly to the use of helmet penalty - not called unless it results in an injury to a key player. ...

However they navigate this, I really hope this does not lead to 'fake injury' and the said injured player returns next play. This may be extreme thinking...unfortunately my head goes to soccer/LeBron type antics to get calls.  Hope not!

How are defenders supposed to tackle a ballcarrier in space that is running a step ahead of them?   It doesn’t make sense.

Only speculation I have is grab the waist, hold on and slide down to the legs, getting dragged a few more yards in the process, if the ball carrier does not blow open the hold and keep running.

The other thing I look forward to is the offensive player jumping in up and throwing his imaginary flag at each and every opportunity.

  15. The longer this plays out the more it has the potential to get wild (more than it already is). My mind can go to lots places trying to come up with possible explanations. But, I heard someone say, usually the simplest one is the right one.

Unless Sutton has been in the same hole in the ground for the past two weeks that Aaron Rodgers was in last year, I cannot imagine he's unaware there is a warrant out for his arrest.

While we can not guarantee anything from our seats, but as black as this sounds...unless he is dead...there's no way he does not know.

I think I read he had setbacks in his return last year. If he doesn't have complications with this injury, wouldn't he be back sooner? I guess we'll have to wait and see...

I recall similar, AND I heard that DC and BH are more comfortable with prognosis, as his treatment/s have all been in-house.
