This as nervous as I've felt for a Michigan game in a while. I expected Harbaugh and company to lose to Michigan State and Ohio State and only in the 4th quarter did I begin to feel the nerves against Ohio State. I expect Michigan to win this game now and so the negative energy is creeping back up. I don't see a matchup on paper where Iowa bests Michigan. Offensively, they don't seem to be very productive unless they are working with a shortened field. They have a terrible offense and rank 106th in rushing, 110th in passing, and 123rd in total offense. I don't see a way they outscore Michigan without forcing us to turn the ball over a ridiculous amount of times. Defensively, they are good team but not better than Michigan and I don't think they have the talent on the Dline to control or bully Michigan's Oline considering what we just watched Michigan do last week to Ohio State's Dline. My gut tells me Michigan pounds the rock down their throat, dominates the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball and just controls the game from start to finish. Iowa doesn't have the offensive talent to go up tempo and turn this game into a track meet. I think it's going to be something like Michigan 35 Iowa 17.

One year in we're already looking at replacing our OC? YIKES!

Yes, so we're about to get a wave of insurrectionists feeling the same as this guy is. When you finally realize that the grift hits you I bet it hurts.

Maybe they were discussing adoption policy?

Do you think he's crying because he's finally realized he's been had and that Trump won't be around anytime soon to bail him out, cover his legal bills, or serve the jail time he's about to serve?

I'll keep this statement in mind if Schumer or the Democrats ever find themselves in the same situation. I'm sure you wouldn't mind a nomination being held up.

If Thibs really is getting pressures on 20% more of his snaps, then what does the eye test say there?

I was listening to the latest Pride of Detroit podcast this morning and they had draft analyst and analytics guy Kent Lee Platte on the show and they were discussing Thibs vs. Hutchison. Platte is no guru by any means, just one analyst with an opinion, and he was Thibs over Hutch for the Lions. He says he was more productive per snap and got more pressure than Hutch. Thibs was more explosive and quicker and he compared Thibs to Chase Young and Myles Garrett. Thibs gets pressure on almost 20% of his snaps.

Political correctness caused a guy to shoot up a concert in Las Vegas? It caused a young man to shoot kids in the face at Sandy Hook? It caused shootings at Columbine, Jonesboro, Aurora, Pulse in Orlando, a Sikh Gurdwara in Wisconsin, a Jewish Synagogue in Pittsburgh, a Baptist Church in Charleston?

https://www.nytimes.com/2021/11/05/health/pfizer-covid-pill.html Has anyone been following the development and clinical trials of the new anti-viral pills from Merck and Pfizer? I read that in the clinical trial for Pfizer they had an 89% reduction in covid symptoms when their pill was given. I saw the clinical trial was so effective they ended it early due to efficacy reasons around continuing to give subjects the placebo when the real pill was shown so effective with no side/minimal serious side effects. Mercks antiviral pill study showed that it cut the covid symptoms by around 50% I believe. One thing I guess I am concerned about in the two clinical trials is how many patients were high-risk covid patients? I would think we'd want a lot of high-risk covid patients in the trial to see if the new antivirals are effective on people at the greatest risk of getting seriously ill or dying, not healthy adults in their mid 30's like myself. For someone whose smarter than I am on science and biology, are these new anti viral medications a way out of the pandemic? IE, you get covid, run to your doctor or simply up to your local CVS, get a script for one of these new antiviral pills, and you go home and recoup for a few days? Is that too simplistic a view on what these antivirals could do? It seems to me that people are much more apt to want to pop a pill to get rid of what ails them than have to constantly go in for a vaccine or booster. I would hope the anti-vax crowd that is steadfast against getting vaxxed would be more apt to take this pill.

And our second amendment, if interpreted properly, talks about keeping and bearing by a regulated militia. Last I checked, a gun buyback is the regulation part of that. If we had a liberal justice system in this country gun buybacks would work. Sadly the courts have been hijacked to the right. A gun buyback program, in conjunction with broader border enforcement to stop the flow of guns coming into the country, would actually work. Lowering the number of guns available in society, thus decreasing access for people who shouldn't have them, is the best way I feel to solve the problem. But as we both know, it will neve, ever happen in America. We'd rather watch kids get shot in the face or go to a movie theater or night club or urban community and watch people get murdered over and over again before doing something that would work.

Vox: Australia Confiscated 650,000 guns in 1996. Murders, Mass Shootings, and Suicides Plummeted If you want to do something that solves the problem, do what Australia did, and just mandate a buyback of guns from people. It's too bad our culture cares more about guns than people and our politicians have stones the size of dimes, so it will never get done.

I actually think that's ok for a couple of reasons. First, it sets you up for drafting in the top 3-5 and allows you to get your QB in the 2023 draft without having to trade draft capital to move up and get one. Second, this roster is so awful anyways, there is going to be a lot of turnover as is, so having that amount of draft capital, while normally wholly unrealistic, allows you to remake and turn the roster over quicker.

I did a laughably big 13 player mock draft tonight with multiple trades. I ended up trading out of the #1 pick with Jacksonville and getting their #3 pick overall and still landed Hutch. Trades: Detroit receives: #3 overall, #34 (2nd), #67 (3rd), #188 (6th) and Jacksonville receives: #1 overall Detroit receives: #51 (2nd), #63 (2nd) and Baltimore receives: #34 overall #3: Aidan Hutchinson/DE - Michigan #23: Drake London/WR - USC #33: Trent McDuffie/CB - Washington #51: Christian Harris/WLB - Alabama #63: Jahan Dotson/WR - Penn State #65: Zion Johnson/OG - Boston College #67: Owen Pappoe/OLB - Auburn #98: Breece Hall/RB - Iowa State #176: Tre' Williams/DE - Arkansas #180: Hendon Hooker/QB - Tennessee #188: Jamaree Salyer/OT - Georgia #218: Danny Gray/WR - SMU #235: Jack Sanborn/OLB - Wisconsin

I still think it is acceptable to take Thibs at #1, but after watching Hutchison manhandle and bully around one of the better OLs in the country, one with multiple future NFL players on it, I am sold on taking Hutch #1 overall. For all the hype we heard with guys like Chase Winovich and Rashan Gary when they were at Michigan, Hutch is delivering on the hype with big productivity. I think Hutch is in the mold of prime JJ Watt and unlike Watt, he appears to be able to stay healthy for a full season. I'm not Hutch or bust, but after Saturday, I'm strongly leaning towards him.

Thoughts and prayers aren't going to cut it. But I'm sure we'll get lots of bullshit, empty calls for thoughts and prayers and talk about how it's "too early to talk about political action" and how "democrats are trying to politicize another mass shooting." Fuck off to any politician who says that.

Stafford watch (A place for Stafford discussion)
Mr.TaterSalad replied to RedRamage's topic in Detroit Lions
Akers isn't substantially better than Darrell Henderson. The WR excuse can be used either when you sign OBJ and have arguably the best WR in the league this season in Cooper Kupp. Stafford is out of excuses and if they are a early exit from the playoffs I suspect that will somewhat, maybe largely, be on him. I think this is par for the course for Stafford against good to great defenses. -

I don't know what the Rams expected when they traded for him. He is who he is, a good QB, sometimes a great QB, and sometimes an average QB who frequently struggles against better defenses. -
I'm so glad I didn't have to hear that stupid fucking Buckeye Across the Field fight song, or whatever those slack-jawed troglodytes down there in Columbus call it, 100x on Saturday. I'm also glad to not hear Gus Johnson stroking out screaming TOUCHDOWN OHIO STATE! CHRIS OLAVE! GARRETT WILSON! CJ HENDERSON! 100x during the game. It took me three years to figure out why I dislike Gus Johnson and I realized it has nothing to do with Gus himself, he's a fine announcer. Instead, it's because all my memories of Gus calling games are Michigan losing to Ohio State. It's the same reason I loved Keith Jackson and Bob Griese back in the day. So woah nelly and amen to that!

Myself and a lot of fans have laid it on thick with our criticisms of Harbaugh and things he has done on and off the field over the years. One thing I want to give him major props for though is bringing in Mike McDonald this year as his new Defensive Coordinator. McDonald has transformed this defense and it showed today with big stops and dominating up front. McDonald is a complete 180 from Don Brown and his defensive production and national rankings is showing us the significant changes.
