  1. Maybe real baseball trades don't exist any longer? The only one I've seen this offseason is Semien for Nimmo..which was each team offloading a bad contract.
  2. That is correct...but they have lost for the same reason(inability to hit). In lieu of adding any new guys from the outside, they are going to rely on the same guys who failed in the biggest spots. Some guys might improve, and others might just plateau or regress. As the POBO, he has to project some of the outcomes and make trades if they don't want to assume contractual risk with older vets.
  3. Harris can't believe that every young player is going to have an ideal outcome. On the other hand, his philosophy seems to be shared by 70% of the league. Everybody overvalues what they have and don't want to lose deals. The real choices come when they don't want to pay guys who are close to reaching the end of the arb clock; Skubal doesn't count because paying him would be out of scope. But are you going to pay Riley Greene? If not, when do you trade him and can you strike when you think you can get the best value. Until he has to make real hard choices, it seems like we are going to churn and roster hoard and see what happens..optionality will be the calling card.
  4. Sam Menzin's legacy...before he left in disgrace.
  5. Additionally, there are too many GM's like Harris with parallel team building and valuation philosophies. Now they have the nuclear winter lockout looming so nobody wants to do anything.
  6. Tampa, Cleveland, and Milwakee are rigid and disciplined...they move guys before they need to pay them. The Tigers are trying to middle it without adding any risk to their portfolio. I don't care about signings..make a trade; All of these guys can't play in the majors.
  7. He is not great at talking to the press. Needs to get flourescent golf shirts and a butt chin.
  8. And if you're a long view guy, then you have to be consistently churning the roster with trades. There is a business reason to hold on to Skubal for another year. If they trade him now, it will be disaster at the box office.
  9. They have no starting pitching signed beyond 2026 and nothing in the high minors. It's both a short and long term need. I don't get how waiver claims and minor league signings is the way to go. I don't see any swing and miss bullpen guys in the minors either. Just a strange way to build a major league team. They just roster hoard and think that they will win on the margins. The 'on the margins' moves like short term pitching contracts have been epic wastes of money..I just don't get it.
  10. Tigers 40-man moves Added: IF/OF Trei Cruz IF Hao-Yu Lee C/1B Eduardo Valencia C/1B Thayron Liranzo LHP Jake Miller DFA'd: RHP Dugan Darnell RHP Jason Foley LHP Sean Guenther RHP Jack Little RHP Tyler Mattison RHP Tanner Rainey
  11. Imanaga accepts QO from the Cubs; Woodruff accepts QO from Milwaukee.
  12. Gleyber has accepted the QO per Heyman.
  13. If the Yankees win, game 1 is at 8:38 PM Eastern on FS1. If the Red Sox win, game 1 is at 4:08 Eastern on Fox. Game 2 is at 8:03 pm Eastern on FS1 either way.
