  1. ESPN hates the tigers https://www.espn.com/mlb/insider/story/_/id/39437646/top-30-mlb-farm-systems-prospects-list-2024-kiley-mcdaniel-cubs-orioles-tigers-padres premium link

  3. It's probably too late for them. They'll get bridge deals or much bigger money.
  4. This is small potatoes money...very low risk.
  5. 28 years old, no bad one year deals, could work out like Matthew Boyd or maybe he gets in the Fetter pitching lab and does some good things
  6. The free agent class is terrible. But there should be opportunity to find a team that wants to cut payroll and take a big contract off their hands to fill in offensive gaps.
  7. I would be fine with overextending on a pitcher...even with the implicit injury risk.
  8. On Petzold and Voldemort's pod, they posited that the Tigers would be content with adding at least 3 rookies(JHM, Keith, and Jung) and roll into 2024 as another evaluation season. Voldemort pushed back on that thinking...given how low the payroll is now. The free agent class is terrible. However, I don't think you can sell a skeptical fanbase on just adding more young and untested hitters as a path to improving a still terrible offense.
  9. A Meadows will be non-tendered IMO...Alexander not sure on(edit. meant Wingenter). I don't get the Turnbull thing. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2023/10/projected-arbitration-salaries-for-2024.html
  10. I would take a middling/league average type vs lighting at-bats on fire with Maton..in the name of misguided player development. If you see stories about how they fixed Maton's pitch recognition and swing, then they are going to try that again. Free agency should be about floor raisers. Development is where you get high ceiling types.
  11. Rough scene for a former poster and current podcaster.
