Interesting article, but there definitely appears to be some funkiness in the projected numbers. Jobe and Anderson only getting 24 and 28 IP the rest of the season? From what I can tell, there should be 8-9 starts for them (and or Flaherty) left, so they're projecting only 3-3.5 IP per start? Not to mention the projected ERA's, especially Melton and Jobe,( that he talked a bit about seeming off. It doesn't make me trust their projection systems that much.
I also don't think it takes into account where the Tigers were days before the deadline when they lost that Skubal start. At that point, even I who was all about keeping him as long as possible, determined they needed to trade him if the offer was worth it (which I for sure think the Dodgers was). Add in the fact that Ryan hopefully will help them this year also, and I don't think it really effects their chances of making the playoffs. I think it more effects their chance of winning a short series.
