I'm just proposing this because its what we did with Cabrera (to an extent). We were just coming out of a rebuild getting legitamacy with Pudge and Magglio too around the same time frame. If we make the trade, you can put it on the condition an extension is signed. Otherwise, yes wait till Free Agency. I just think having that exclusive window will be very beneficial versus trying to out bid the Dodgers, Red Sox, Yankees, Mets and the other big boys. The Tigers can afford to make this trade now and afford to sign him. That is why I think they should do it (assuming we get that contract extension). But its just my $0.02.

No player is worth that much. Bruh, but you're right that Avila might be stupid enough to pay something like that. In order to get Cabrera we had to trade 2 top 50 prospects (Maybin and Miller). They get that in Skubal and Jobe from my trade proposal. The rest would be sweeteners to finish up the pricing. Dingler is no slouch, nor is Madden. But those two could be interchangeable with other prospects in our system like Olson, or Keith.....

Tigers should trade for Juan Soto. I'm saying it here. The Tigers should offer Dingler, Jobe, Skubal and someone like Ty Madden for Juan Soto. I literally called the Cabrera trade with my friends before it happened and I would love to see something like this. But if you add Soto to Greene, Torkelson, and Baez.... That could be the core going forward. Jung in a couple of years too.... We have the space, can afford to trade from the dearth of starters, and we can easily afford Soto's contract and he'd be the heir apparent to franchise player that we are losing next year in Cabrera. Like I said, this is a stupid opinion. But it would re-energize the fan base showing ownership cares, we'd be dealing from extreme depth we have and it would really solve a few problems including giving us that bonafide true Superstar. This team could salvage itself in two years vs what we are looking 3-5 years down the road without. Just thought I'd mention it........

We've got what, 9 Mil left in salary cap?

Same school as Porcello right?

These games are super fun to go to. They are literally sold out almost every game though and tickets are ridiculously hard to find..... Baseball can learn something here from them for sure.........
-
He rebuilt the organizations though. Thats what I like about him. The Cubs built a "home grown" team. Same for the Red Sox. He knows how to get the right young guys. At least for one good run. I'd love to see what he can do.

So I'm assuming those guys are kind of like unicorns..... Now that we've improved our team, our draft pick will likely be later and our chances of getting the #1 or 2 pick is a lot smaller. So how do we get those type of guys? Or are we now in NHL purgatory and there's not much we can do?
-
Just curious..... What else would the Wings need to add to be legitimate contenders for the cup? Or is it just the development of the younger guys we have now?
-
You had me goin there till you said that. They have the worst offense in the AL, maybe MLB. But most of your post was spot on 😀
-
Well, we can kiss that high pick goodbye after today........
-
How many of these guys will be trade bait when the rookies are ready to come up? I think thats what yzer was thinking too....

Anyone know if theres a site that has updated farm system rankings after this years draft? https://thehockeywriters.com/nhl-farm-system-rankings/ is the only one I could find from like January of this year...... (Does have Red Wings #2 though)
-
Yzerman should make this team tank one more year. Then get the first pick no matter what. If they have the 2nd or 3rd pick in the lottery, trade up for the 1st. Sign the best 2 or 3 Free Agents and then be good to go. Oh one could dream.......

7/11 @ 8:10 Tigers @ Royals DH Game #2
AlaskanTigersFan replied to Tigeraholic1's topic in Game Threads
The Tigers have one of the worst offenses in the league and have since Spring Training. I thought they'd be dead last in the AL before the year began. This isn't the staffs fault by any means..... Javy Baez (when he's on) is the only first division regular. Greene is showing to be one too. So thats two out of nine spots that should be in the lineup. No one could win with this lineup. it was very easily foreseeable unfortunately. -
https://theathletic.com/3380742/2022/07/11/2023-nhl-draft-ranking?source=user-shared-article Looks like its a 2 person race next year...... 1. Connor Bedard, C, Regina (WHL) Bedard is the type of prospect you dream of being around when picking No. 1. He’s a game-breaker. Bedard has fantastic individual skill while also being exceptionally smart with the puck. He creates chances out of nothing for his teammates and shows elite ability to manipulate defenses. His shot is also truly elite and he’s a threat to score from anywhere in the offensive zone. Bedard lacks ideal NHL size, but he competes well and is a very good skater. He’s more quick than fast, but he can pull away from checks. He should tear up the WHL next season and be in the NHL shortly after scoring in bunches. 2. Matvei Michkov, RW, SKA (KHL) Michkov, like Bedard, is a game-breaker. His combination of puck skills, hockey sense and scoring ability is truly elite. He can make offense out of nothing and is lethal inside the offensive zone. Michkov isn’t the biggest or fastest, but due to his hockey sense he’s so difficult to check because he’s always three steps ahead of the defense. Michkov is right there with Bedard in terms of pure ability and is a legit contender for the No. 1 overall spot despite his complicated situation in the KHL, where he is signed through the 2025-26 season.

Don't sleep on Daniel Cabrera. He just got promoted back to AA after struggling at first and got demoted. He CRUSHED it though and is back at AA. I might be his biggest fan here but I think he'll finish the year strong.....
-
I am surprised by the Dline. With Levi, Akim, Hutch, Brockers and Paschal.... Not to mention the Okwara brothers for depth.... I think thats pretty solid no?
-
I would just think like, 30 Goals in 40 games or something would be "good". But I don't know a lot about NHL or let alone prospects. I'll take ya'lls word for it.
-
So, with Kasper...... 7 Goals in 40 games..... Thats bad isn't it?
-
Sounds like he's two years away from what Stevie said.... One more overseas then he'll probably come to the AHL for a season.

I'm kinda hopin Goff is our guy and we can draft two more players of need next year in the first round without a QB. But it seems like we'll need someone more mobile long term.... The days of Farve, Brady and Rogers seem like they are coming to an end....... But who knows?

Trading Dylan Larkin? Is it insane? Or..........
AlaskanTigersFan replied to AlaskanTigersFan's topic in Detroit Red Wings
Speaking of Lalonde, do you think Stevie asks him if he needs Larkin or if he thinks he can do what he needs without? Or is this just a soul decision of Stevie Y?
