2022 DETROIT TIGERS REGULAR SEASON THREAD
AlaskanTigersFan replied to chasfh's topic in Detroit Tigers
I hate to say "I told you so" to this forum, but I said it for the last three months that this is one of the worst lineups in the AL if not all of baseball. This really isn't surprising and the true colors of our hitters are showing.......... We are no where near the finished product of this rebuild. I continue to hope I'm wrong, but so far I've unfortunately been pretty spot on.....- 3,276 replies

Lions Draft Grades and After Draft Talk/What's Next?
AlaskanTigersFan replied to AlaskanTigersFan's topic in Detroit Lions
So, it seems if we draft a QB and a linebacker next year, we are all set................ Seems like an easy task to do. -
Red Wings looking for a Head Coach
AlaskanTigersFan replied to Motor City Sonics's topic in Detroit Red Wings
Roger Rönnberg, head coach, Frölunda (SHL) gets my vote. -
Yep. I used to work at Montverde. Very good basketball program and also soccer too. Their soccer team would play professional teams and national all-star teams all the time. Francisco Lindor graduated from there as well. Very cool young man. I know RJ Barrett very well. The next big name to come out of MVA will be Dariq Whitehead. He's going to Duke next year. He will be a top 2 pick in the NBA. You will not find a finer kid in the world than Dariq. If you're talking about character, he's on a whole nother level from Diangelo Russel, Ben Simmons, and even RJ and Cade. Cade is a good guy and Dariq sang his praises the last few years saying he's the man. But Dariq will be the MVA alumni that I will be rooting for most. I would give anything to see the Pistons get him but I don't think they'll be in the lottery when he's draft eligible. He and my daughter are best buds and it just goes to show how cool of a young man he really is (my daughters 8 years old and she considers him to be her best bud 😋). I can't say enough good things about Dariq.

Trading Dylan Larkin? Is it insane? Or..........
AlaskanTigersFan replied to AlaskanTigersFan's topic in Detroit Red Wings
Do you think they could get a top 5 or top 10 prospect plus two first rounders for him? Or is that too steep a price? I legit don't know how good he really is considering all the other players in the NHL. I just know he's our golden boy..... -
Question. I will be the first to admit, I know jack squat about the Red Wings in general. So bear with me. As I'm reading up on them though, it looks like the Red Wings are still 2-3 years away from being really in contention of playoffs. Would trading Larkin now before his big contract for a top 5 prospect and lets say 2 first rounders be worth it for the Red Wings (a lot of people were shocked when Mantha was traded, so there is a precedent of Yzerman trading good players in their prime [albeit not one as glorified as Larkin])? Is there a team that would do that that you could think of? What would Larkin's value be? (Here's a link to some of the top prospects I was just looking at). I'm just thinking if they cash in now and get a decent player on a rookie contract plus some extra high end draft capital, wouldn't that be worth it? Or is it just better to sit tight with him and play it out paying him big money? Would they wait and talk to a new coach before making a decision on this? Just curious on thoughts. Thanks.

2022 DETROIT TIGERS REGULAR SEASON THREAD
AlaskanTigersFan replied to chasfh's topic in Detroit Tigers
I don't mean to be a naysayer, but I preached this all off-season. The Tigers will have one of the worst lineups this year in the AL if not all of Baseball. We'll get one more high pick next year. But we will be in a pretty good place next year going forward. I love these boys, but this was predictable and forseeable. Let Tork get his lumps in and let Greene as well when he's ready. Next year we will have those two in a lot better place, Baez will be ok, and Dingler should be up as well. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________ If I really want to go crazy (I probably should of ended my message above), I think these guys will have a good core next year though after Greene and Tork get their "experience year". They won't be competing for MVP's but they could be competing for above average spots though. Greene Tork Baez Dingler Meadows That is a good start right there. Schoop and Candy might be able to fill in there as well but I'm guessing we'll add another FA hitter. That should give us at least 5 above regular hitters (not including Meadows here unless he shows us something). Dingler profiles to be above average hitter too. I could see him being a top 10 Catcher in terms of hitting when he finally gets here as most hitters are hitting for dog crap right now. But at least that's a start. Much better than we have now 😕.- 3,276 replies

Grading the Lions 2019 NFL Draft
AlaskanTigersFan replied to Motor City Sonics's topic in Detroit Lions
Isn't Hock a top 3 TE in the league? -
I just wanted to start a poll to see what grade everyone would give the Lions. Also to move on to next year as well versus all the threads talking about just this years haul. I think (and hope) the Lions are done "building the trenches" after this year. Next year, they can focus on getting one of the best QB's in the draft in the first round, then add a Linebacker next and we should be in great shape. From there add another WR and then more depth as needed. But if we get lets say Bryce Young (costing us both our first rounders next year to go up and get him), and a good Linebacker round 2 (or even trade into round 1 mortgaging a lot to go get it), we should be in good shape. I hope this this the last year of the full "rebuild". I think this team will win around 6-8 games next year. What are your thoughts moving forward and how do you grade the draft in terms of setting the team up next year and beyond?
-
Will do. Thanks.

This is exactly what I was talking about! Where we could see the links all together on the same page. If we could re-do this, I'd definitely upvote that. Now also knowing about those Motown links for each team, I'll be sure to check that out. But the splash page that Motown Bombers posted was exactly what I meant where it pulled feeds from all over. Was very convenient to scan all sports on one page very quickly and choose which article to read. Thanks MotownBomber for finding that. And thanks MotownWebGuy for all you do. This is an amazing site for sure!

Hello. One of the things I loved about the old website was the feed page for all of the different sports. Is that possible/in the plans for the future? I was just curious.
-
BA Prospect Handbook 2021 said that he's gonna need more time. I think he's still got 2-3 years left because of his defensive prowless. I'm also curious what the new minor league staff does with him.
-
Great deal for the twins I think..... mtutiger hit it right on the spot. Worse case, they trade him and get 2 blue chip prospects and he becomes a free agent and signs a 8 year deal or something crazy next year.... Good deal for them.
-
That one is very impressive! I'm very jealous of your collection.

I wanted a guy who was so good at recruiting, he could T-bag Saban. Not a guy that just lays down an waits to be T-bagged by every coach in Division 1. Oi vey. I hope this article is wrong.

I keep getting an error that the certificate for this page is expired? I have to click "advanced" when the screen pops up, then click the link for every single page. How do I fix that? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

As long as he's a good recruiter, I'll be happy. I think U of M has had a lot of great coaches recently. But when you are constantly throwing 4 stars up against stacked 5 star teams, you can't overcome that. We need more *elite* talent. So I really hope Harbaugh goes after extremely good recruiters just like Lincoln Riley did at USC. USC will be a top 5 team within 2 years and will be a constant CFB playoff team from there on out.... That's what we need to do/be..... All starts with recruitment.
