How are you trading Madden for five Englerts? Makes no sense, and no, Madden isnt "five times" better than Englert. I'd rather have Madden, but they're not that far apart. I'd much rather have both.

15% better peripherals? Englert had a higher strikeout rate, lower bb and hit rate, lower whip, better swinging strike rate... Madden is a good prospect, but Englert is in the neighborhood. You want all those you can get. You need to access talent from every source possible.

He's probably going to be the last man in the pen, so he's taking Wily Peralta's job. He's blocking nobody. When anyone earns it, or is ready, they'll get an opportunity.

We were talking ceiling, but those grades are the grades of a mid rotation guy. Texas would be happy to get him back.

His fastball is a 50, slider and command at least above average, change is plus, curve is serviceable, repeats his delivery and maintains his stuff. High release point allows his stuff to play up. Not sure what y'all are looking for, but this was a good get.

The fangraphs report was prior to the uptick in the fastball and slider that he was showing towards the end of the year. Player evaluation is not static.

His ceiling is a mid rotation guy, do you think those grow on trees? It's very low risk with potentially high reward.

They have his fastball at 40 but it improved after a mid season tweak, hitting 96. He also has a very high release point, causing his fb to play up. His change is probably his best pitch, but the slider was flashing plus late.

It wasn't a question of poor evaluations, those players played because there weren't better players to push them out.
