Pistons 9-30 from three. Plus 20 turnovers. Ouch.
-
We just can't win a close game with these guards. Between their poor three point shooting and penchant for turning it over, it's really tough.
-
I really don't want to see Cade fail to close again. Not that Ivey is any better but we need to spread the wealth around a little bit in clutch situations.
-
Livers should not be out there. We need to break this losing streak.
Monty subbing 5 for 5 is annoying. Keep Cade or Ivey out there in a game like this that we have a chance to win.
-
Seems like every time we get close, Ivey or Cade turns it over.
-
Nice to see Cade has a game like this in him.
-
Heard a Tiger fan mention they liked the idea of Justin Turner for the Tigers and I like that idea too if he can play third base everyday. Somehow managed a career high in plate appearances last year and a pretty clear upgrade over Vierling.
-
I would imagine Cade's trade value is still decent. Ivey's probably is not. Doubt Duren has enough to make me want to trade him either.
-
It’s probably time to drastically limit Thompson’s minutes to try and win a game. We are basically playing four on five when we are on offense. It definitely shouldn’t be Livers either. I’d go small with guys like Cade, Umude, Harris, Bojan, and Stewart at the forward positions. Open up some minutes in the backcourt for Ivey and Sasser. You can win regular season games in the nba with poor defense.

that "new found committment to jaden ivey" sees his playing time go from 32 minutes to 21 minutes.
i dont understand what monty williams is doing.
I just want to see a couple games where Ivey says f it and starts attacking every possession to draw fouls. I’ve kind of had it with Cade. I realize he is probably our best player but when you lose 21 strait and he is your go to guy, I’m thinking he is not as valuable as his stats would lead you to believe.

Casey had a ton of problems while the coach here. But I will say this for him. His teams never looked like that. Even towards the end of the year when full tank mode was enabled, they played hard and gave effort.
Probably what happens when the coach plays games with players minutes and roles.

I can't accept the Pistons are doomed as long as Gores owns the team because that is likely the rest of my life. Maybe we can get lucky with the next GM.
-
Gores really is at the root of this. I don’t know how a fan base gets rid of an owner but everything about him screams losing organization.

first it was livers not playing. then it was bogey not playing.
what will the excuse be now that theyre both playing and have made ZERO difference?
even joe harris is back. all of the supposed "floor spacers" are playing and the pistons are still losing. not just losing, but getting obliterated!
livers and bogey and harris are here and theyre worse!
perhaps these guys just arent that good? someone tell the pistons beat writers!
I don’t know who was clamoring for Livers but he has never been good. The other guys at least belong on an nba roster but somehow look like they don’t with Monty coaching them. We are bad but I think being historically bad falls on the coach.

Bogey is a nice player. Just going to take time to round into form. Monty might ruin him though. Livers does really suck.
-
Starting to get worried we might lose 30 strait. This is bad. I don't know what Monty did to this team but even the worst constructed NBA roster should be more competitive than this.
-
Cade played nearly a flawless half and then made two lazy passes late that led to his only two turnovers of the first half. Seems like an abnormal number of his turnovers are those cross court passes that get picked off. Still, nice to see him and Bojan sharing the load on offense and not have to watch Cade constantly fail trying to carry this team.
-
Amazing how much more pleasant it is to watch the Pistons play offense with Bojan out there. He takes a lot of pressure off Cade and Cade does not hesitate to defer to him and let him take over some of the playmaking. Might not make much of a difference in the win/loss column but at least they are tolerable to watch.
-
Killian, Livers, and Stewart all starting. Gross.
I do like moving Cade off the ball more. Been calling for that for awhile. I just don't think the Pistons will ever make a big leap with Cade as their point guard. Killian is obviously not the answer either but at least it might get Cade off the ball a bit more.
-
Still love Iveys talent on offense. When we get to crunch time, if the game is still close, please give him some possessions and not just Cade.
-
Man, these courts that I have been seeing on tv lately are ugly.
-
Hopefully the Pistons start Bojan and Ausar together. Kind of looking forward to seeing what that looks like.

I hate how the first answer people almost always come up with to fix a defense is "blitz more". If blitzing was the answer, everyone would be doing it all the time. The Lions already have a trash secondary, what do you think is going to happen when there are a couple less bodies hanging back to stop players running free?
I would say blitzing makes more sense with a bad defense than a good defense because bad defenses have to take more chances. Kind of like Campbell going for it on 4th down deep in Lions territory. Bad defenses force coaches to take more risks.

Wow, this is depressing.
Cade is one of the biggest TO machines in the league. But he isn't even the worst one on the team.
Cade turns it over 18.3% of his possessions. Ivey turns it over 19.4% of his possessions. Duren is the worst at 21.7%.
The Ivey and Duren numbers are really bad considering they don't face the defensive pressure that Cade does.
League average is just under 13%.
I would think Iveys sample size is small enough that it would level a bit if he handled the ball more. Either way, turnovers are an issue for both starting guards based on their career numbers. With Cade, I would venture a guess it’s ball handling and decision making. With Ivey, I would venture a guess it’s mostly decision making.

Yep. I don't watch a lot of NBA basketball outside of the Pistons but could never imagine an NBA team sinking this low.
