Those are just words. T-shirt and stupid hat material.
They might SAY that’s what they want, but they also want you to keep sending their Social Security checks, the Medicare/Medicaid, food stamps, subsidized housing, etc.

They have no idea that “blowing it up“ would actually be blowing all of that up. Dumbasses.

Btw…. Getting over Covid since last week has put me in a horrible “get off my lawn” pissy old-lady, end-of-the world mood.

I will try to chill out .

    Perhaps cupcakes tomorrow.

I don't disagree but what everyone seems to miss is those supporting Trump WANT exactly that - total destruction.

They have no interest in anything else. They don't want to be beholden to "Truth, Justice and the American Way."

They want racism, Fascism, Nazism, death and destruction - of course as long as it is happening to someone else.

This is what they WANT and they will elect someone like Trump to get it.

The thing that most depresses me however is that no system can work with a populace that has lost the collective common sense to self-govern. In the ME we see this in populations where religious loyalties make democratic governance impossible. And in the US we are beginning to see a population descend into a level of plain ignorance - inability to process facts and reality - that if it leads as far as Trump's re-election, will pretty much prove that the US is no longer a fit population for democracy. So if Trump II ends up being the end of democracy as we have known it, it will just be the inevitable having come to pass.

Jeez.  That’s a bitter pill to digest, albeit a fair assessment of the current state of affairs.
It saddens and depresses me, also, but I don’t feel like I want to throw up my hands and say “oh, well, it was a good run”.

If not for myself, I think I need to keep fighting back for the generations behind me.  I don’t want them to live in the kind of society that MAGA mindsets will doom them to.

We have to - Keep fighting.  We cannot go gently into that dark night.  Not if you love your family and you know better than to accept this as normal.

  4. I can’t believe it.

I tested positive for Covid this morning. I have been able to avoid it for 4 years… but here it is. Bummer.

Killer headache, high fever (& I never run a fever.. unusual for me), head congestion.

right now, not taking any medication, really, just something for the fever. But my doctor asked me to call them tomorrow morning, and if I feel worse than I feel today, she’ll prescribe something. I’d just prefer not having to take an antiviral, …I’d kinda like to see this through on my own. But, i’ll see how I feel tomorrow morning.

I am just surprised… I felt like I’d just never get it. 😕

    Separation of church and state

Project 2025 focuses on Christian nationalism, and one of its goals is to dismantle the wall of separation between church and state established by the Constitution's First Amendment. Religious freedom for believers is paramount in the Project 2025 plan, preferring religious beliefs over civil laws like the Constitution. A tenet of the project is:

"The message that America must remain Christian, that Christianity should enjoy a privileged place in society, and that the government must take steps to ensure this is clear in every section of the plan, as is the idea that American identity cannot be separated from Christianity."[41]

And right there is probably as un-American a statement as you can ever devise. Absolutely abhorrent.  Traitorous.

  6. I’m making 2024 the year I renew my penchant for losing myself in some good books (most new, but also some “old” re-reads), with a smattering of banned books in the mix.  I gifted about a dozen books this year for Christmas also. I’ll be borrowing some of them back, lol, because a few I haven’t read in probably 30-50 years.

throughout my life, I would read a pretty large number of books per year, but then, somewhere around 15-20 years ago it was something akin to when marathon runners say that they “hit the wall“. That’s what it felt like to me… Suddenly I couldn’t pick up a book and read more than 10 pages and retain anything that that I just read. totally shocked me, and I’ve tried with very limited success to read a book here and there for these past years. I’m definitely missing them in my life. So this year I’m going to find a way to get that mindset back. It was only recently, like in the last couple of months, that finally a couple friends of mine, some compatriots, came up with An explanation for my sudden drop in reading. I don’t know why I never made this connection, but their thoughts were that menopause did this to me. Jesus. I realize the timing might be about right. Well , it’s time for me to get over it! 🤓

i’m starting with “The beekeeper of Aleppo.” And I think the next book I’ll read after this will be “To Kill a Mockingbird.”

My 3rd will be a re-read of “Slaughterhouse Five”.

  7. Anyone who’s even thinking that Donald Trump is going to stop at this “four more years” is delusional, or just not paying attention.. He will have them beginning the process of repealing the 22nd amendment on his second day in office. (he already has day one planned, so he’ll have to wait till the second day for this.).
He will be president for life…. He will leave that Oval Office in a ridiculously ornate orange/golden casket, wait, no…. It will likely be a glass coffin so we can keep him in plain view, confirming that he’s not coming back.
I say make him part of the border wall.

I snickered at it, not so much because of using the old trope that Indians run all the convenience stores, but more along the lines that Trump would absolutely think that would be a perfect role for him and wouldn't even realize how racist it is.

I think Trump would EXACTLY know how racist it is.

Why would any reasonable woman want to stay in a red state at this point?

Please tell me you’ve considered that leaving might be financially unrealistic, or might not have the freedom to do so.

Also, if you’re going to ask that question of women, might we not also ask it  of men - who have wives, mothers, sisters, nieces, granddaughters, etc?

Traump reportedly wants to deliver his closing argument in the NY fraud trial by himself.  LFG!

I’ve heard that should he do that, he would be considered a witness, and would need to take the stand to be cross-examined by the prosecutors. He’s not doing it. This was just another campaigning fraud announcement.

i’m out of patience with Welker. She’s more interested in being famous and having her “star trek lighting” than the actual outcome of what’s happening.

    WTF. Welker is useless.

You don’t let a statement like that fly. Ugh
