I will say he doesn't have the power to be the next Carp. It's not a bad thing it is just a different type of player. If you look a lot of his hits are to the opposite field. He might tap into his pull power at some point but I would say, he has almost 200 ABs in AA and is hitting just under 1.000 OPS so it is hard to ignore. I think his hit tool plays but given the current outfield situation until there is an injury/trade I have a hard time seeing him supplant anyone and especially for an org that values versatility his only other position is 1B. That being said he could get to AAA and get roasted or you know these things have a way of working themselves out.

In my mind, this is what you probably have next year (health notwithstanding because let's be honest someone is going to get injured) #1 E-Rod or FA replacement #2 Skubal #3 Olson #4 Manning #5 Mize (TJ is just such a wild card for performance) #6-9 Faedo, Wentz, One of the minor league pitchers (Madden, Montero, Gipson-Long, O'Loughlin) If we sign another Lorenzen type I could see Olson getting moved out to the BP since his stuff would play really well there.

I would disagree that Skubal is at best a #3.

There are a lot of cross-relationships between the Tigers and Cubs. Former Tigers Jeimer Candelario and Michael Fulmer with the Cubs. Javier Báez, of course, helped the Cubs win a World Series. Alex Lange and Zack Short grew up in the Cubs system. Also, former Tigers first baseman Jim Adduci is a hitting coach and advance game-planner for the Cubs. Makes sense the Duece would be the game planner for Chicago.
