I mean, Dodgers fans had to deal with this when Vin Scully was working for NBC. Ditto Giants fans when Jon Miller was on ESPN, Cardinals fans back when Jack Buck was the main guy for CBS, etc. Somehow they survived. Benetti's Fox contract predates his Tigers one, and I imagine he has a limited number of dates where he can just blow off his network duties on short notice. I guess I really can't see that as being enough of a basis on which to judge his loyalty or commitment to the D.

My personal fantasy involves him being flown to The Hague and frog-marched into the ICC.

I've also seen it theorized that he's giving another country or terrorist group an opening to attack us so he can declare we're at war and institute martial law.

I see they’re giving him the Horst Wessel treatment already, which frankly tracks.

The punchline being that no amount of documentation will be enough to keep our neo-SS from hauling any brown people away whenever they damn well please.

One of my theories is that TV really doesn’t even need play-by-plays, especially nowadays with graphics giving you so much information. It’s a medium for analysis. Conversely, I believe analysts are superfluous and possibly even detrimental on radio, which is much more of a medium for play-by-play description. I love listening to old Ernie/Paul broadcasts, where for the most part it’s just one guy talking during his innings. That way they could concentrate on keeping the listener apprised of what was happening instead of trying to maintain a conversation. It also allowed the broadcasts to breathe much more; during lulls in the action they’d lay back and just let you enjoy the sounds of the ballpark.
