Tonight Yasavage became just the second rookie pitcher (after Don Newcombe in 1949) to throw 11 strikeouts in a World Series game. He’s also the second-youngest pitcher (after Smoky Joe Wood in 1912) to do this. He’s also also the first rookie pitcher in WS history to strike out five consecutive batters. And he’s broken Newcombe’s record with 12. Some kinda night for the kid.
