  1. Yeah, Beltran is another who should be in with Lou and Schilling. He has 400+ home runs, 300+ stolen bases, 2700+ hits, obp .350, 9x all-star, ROY, 3 gold gloves.
  2. I think similar, but the player will be Dwight Evans. Higher ops and ops+ than Baines, similar longevity stats, and 8 gold gloves.
  3. Very well thought out post
  4. 2026 veterans ballot for hof. Lou is up, and he is up against several other players on the bubble. I fear Lou will get passed up again. One of these guys make sense - that Rolen and Helton don't stand out against this list and they are already in
  5. If you take away his 5 starts as a 21 yo rookie and his covid season, his only terrible stretch was with Baltimore for 9 starts, after being traded for the first time. Career era 3.63, fip 3.91, whip 1.18, k/9 10.2. I'm not pushing for Harris to just do anything. I am not for giving Bregman a huge contract. Flaherty was a very good fit here. A 4 year deal takes him to sge 32. Any FA signing brings an element of risk. That's one I would take https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/f/flaheja01.shtml
  6. Flaherty was on the Foul Territory podcast today. While it's obviously part ploy to get a contract, he also seems very genuine when he says how much he enjoyed being in Detroit and he would welcome the chance to return. He will be 29 the entire 2025 season. The Tigers should pay this guy. They likely will lose Skubal in 2 years, if not sooner. I don't know what they're asking, but 4/100 to 5/120 would seem reasonable. I keep reading he is asking for 5 yrs. Just go get him Harris!
  7. Far too many guys start significant decline in their early to mid 30s. After the Miggy, Zimmerman, Fielder, Baez, etc contracts, I just don't see Illitch agreeing any more long-term deals post 30. That's why I am convinced they will not be retaining Skubal. The Yankees and Mets will get into a bidding war.
  8. Lol, I did see an article that Japan's most prolific home run hitter is planning to come in 2026, and I'm sure LAD will land him
  9. I agree. Schilling should be in. But he is outspoken and strongly opinionated, usually against mainstream. Imho he was more of an ace than Jack Morris
  10. Dodgers reach tentative agreement with Yates. Lather. Rinse. Repeat. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2025/01/dodgers-sign-kirby-yates.html
  11. Nothing against him - I hope he does well. That said, I see a potential similar career path to Chris Davis or Khris Davis. Doesn't fit Harris' type of player.
  12. As a kid at Tigers Stadium we'd go early and my brother and I would watch the Tigers drive their cars into an area of the stadium. Brookens drove an old pick-up truck and for some reason I liked him for that and his mustache, not his bat
  13. Two biggest reasons why I effin hate Boston and always will
  14. Maybe the Tigers have a feel good story here
  15. The stud playmakers on both sides of the ball are all in their 20s and most are signed for a few years. They'll be back and should have more chances. That said I'm in the dumps right now and will be for a day or two. Pistons and Wings are hot, and pitchers and catchers report in a few weeks.
  16. Been a Lions fan since 1971. Very solemn night. I live in Minneapolis and my friends here are rubbing it in
  17. Next year will be the 50th anniversary of Fidrych's magical season. Someone should make a motion picture about that ride.
  18. Tigers sign knuckleballer Kenny Serwa? Never heard of him. "Yoshi" pitch? https://www.mlb.com/news/tigers-sign-hard-throwing-knuckleballer-kenny-serwa
  19. The Dodgers overtook the damn Yankees on my list of pure hatred as well
  20. In 13 months the Dodgers added 4 front line starters via FA. Ohtani, Yamamoto, Snell and Sasaki. And they have Glasnow, May, likely Kershaw. They could possibly field 2 playoff teams.
  21. Didn't know either. Decent obp https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=boras-001sco
  22. Ron Cey......now he was a good dancer. He scored a 9.5 doing the penguin
  23. According to this article the Red Sox offered Bregman a 3-yr deal and he is holding out for a 5-yr deal. If that's true I don't see Harris going to 5. Maybe 3 or 4. I do have a gut feeling Det still has a big move coming up. Or maybe that's just the aftermath of a Greek omelet https://en.albat.com/thebigs/MLB-The-Contract-Alex-Bregman-Turned-Down-from-the-Red-Sox-and-His-Counteroffer-Revealed-20250115-0012.html
  24. Read a Sasaki article this am. Didn't realize he frequently tops 100 on the gun. I had heard about his devastating splitter. Given those pitching facts it's not a surprise that last year he missed time with shoulder inflammation. And in 2023 he missed time with an oblique injury. Sounds like TJ waiting to happen. Maybe the same is true for Jobe https://japantoday.com/category/sports/japanese-phenom-roki-sasaki's-mlb-deal-could-spur-chaos-in-latin-america.-here's-why
  25. That came up in my feed yesterday. Then another came up where it seems the Tigers are also being sued by some scouts. All scouts were laid off for a period during the pandemic and the Tigers did not apply for the federal program to reward employers for keeping staff on during covid 19. When it was cleared to bring people back, everyone rehired was under age 60. Several age 60+ scouts filed a discrimination suit. It's been delayed and still pending. It's interesting to hear this behind the scenes stuff. I'm only 59, maybe there's still time to find a job with the Tigers.
