  1. Iassogna is terrible.
  2. That was a loud out to end the inning. Seems like when hitters guess right, they can give Jobe a ride.
  3. Honestly, after last season’s miracle run at the end, it feels weird to see Baez in the field for the Tigers. It almost feels like seeing Candelario in the field for the Tigers. You kind of figure he’s gone gone, but then, hey look, there he is.
  4. So, the radio feed was way off by a factor of seconds in the top of the first, but it is practically right on for the top of the second. Maybe just a few microseconds fast. I checked out every other game I could that’s live now, and the radio was well off for the Angels; slightly off for the Braves; and off minimally for the Dodgers. So at least it’s not a Tigers-only thing. But, really, it’s 2025 for cry eye, how can they not get something as seemingly straightforward as synching audio to video?
  5. Man, what a great adjustment by Tork on that changeup for a simgle—something he would not have done any season before this.
  6. You KNOW the roof is falling in on you when even Javy Baez drives the ball to the wall on you! Hancock was even shorter for this game than I had imagined when I wrote that,
  7. Tr Sweeney gets in on the fun, and Dingler the CATCHER hustling around to third on that.
  8. Dingler dinks one in for a rib!
  9. Lots of empty seats. Gotta move closer at some point …
  10. At this rate, Hancock is not long for this game.
  11. And Riley with the oppo blast! Fast start still continues.
  12. Carpenter TOOTBLAN
  13. Fast starts are always nice.
  14. Definitely Manning—that is, if he were ever going to get called up to the majors ever again, which I’m thinking he might not be. I think he might end up in Asia at some point.
  15. My best off-the-cuff guess here is that (1) he wants to outlaw secondary sales between individuals and have that managed only by the big players, so instead of you posting your tickets on StubHub, you will have to sell the ticket back to the ticket broker at face minus fees, provided they have a buyer already lined up to pay face plus fees (something like a stock market exchange); and (2) special pleading and payoffs by the big ticket brokers will exempt them from having to reduce the exorbitant fees they charge on the primary market.
  16. Small sample size theater.
  17. I kind of wonder whether this is a deliberate nod to its audience of mostly young and middle-aged people of modest means who don't have the money or family situations for vacations and new cars anyway? A way to make them feel smart or morally superior for engaging in delayed gratification, even though they practically don't have a choice anyhow? To your point about wealth-building as a "religious undertaking": isn't religion itself, like wealth-building ideology, all about delayed gratification anyway? After all, the radio host Dave Ramsey is a vocal proponent of delayed gratification (although you can be sure he's not delaying his in even the slightest), and I hear all kinds of Christianity dog whistles any time I hear his show. I don't think it's an accident that they are linked with one another, even as it operates in the shadow of prosperity bible theology.
  18. Considering the political landscape and the way it's trending, she might have to. I'm a white cis man who has voted for people of color and women for president, and will again, but I ain't gonna lie, I'm nervous if anyone but a white cis man comes out of the primaries. Not because that's what I want to see, because it truly does not matter either way to me, but because not having exactly that will always cost votes on the margin, and that could be the difference between winning and losing.
  19. Also, whose autograph is that on the check? Not Elon's.
  20. Of course the woman’s name is Ekaterina.
  21. I think it’s more likely everyone gets the bats.
  22. He wants a lot more than to be financially okay. That’s a bourgeois dream.
  23. By a couple weeks from now, that percent of Republicans saying using Signal to discuss military plans will be at least 60%, a new horror will be dominating the news cycle, and everybody will be like, "what's 'Signalgate'"?
  24. It's not because they own stocks that the working class is hurt by a recession .
