I’m not sure Carpenter is the kind of player to trade in the offseason, when trade partners can evaluate his defensive and platoon deficiencies in an in-depth, analytical manner and they have the luxury of time. He might be the kind of chip to trade if he has a hot July and the other team has a real need for a LHH OF who’s raking right-handed pitchers right now and will overpay to get him.
