  1. No doubt. Not everyone on a minor league roster can be an actual prospect. You need to fill out the rest of the roster so you can field a team.
  2. OK, good feedback. I purposely cut him off at the eyes because I wanted as little of his face as I could get away with, while still allowing people to immediately identify him. I wanted the focus to be primarily on the crown, not on his face. I wouldn’t add the clown makeup to mine. That would make it completely different from the joke I wanted to make, and would shift focus from the crown to the clown. Feel free to on your version, though. Would love to see it!
  3. Matt Manning has got to be done here.
  4. You still could’ve beaten Carpenter around third to the plate.
  5. And there we go!
  6. How telling is it that Matt Gage was called up and Matt Manning was not?
  7. Hey, White Sox, we have a Devil You Know you guys could probably use.
  8. I still feel pretty good about getting the win.
  9. Carpenter ran like I could beat him in a race, and I’m in my 60s.
  10. Which is fine for him because he's got goals at 30,000 feet he needs to accomplish. Although he will definitely swoop in at times and issue a decree about some minor hot button issue on the ground.
  11. I agree that he is cognitively slipping as many 79-year-old men would be. What I would not agree with is the idea that he’s a mindless, utterly non-cognitive blob who couldn’t possibly be aware of anything he is doing at any given moment. The details don’t matter to him—they never have—but he knows what the strategy is, and he knows how to move the strategy along, and the fact that it is effective with large swaths of the population is also something I firmly believe he is well aware of, as well as why it’s effective. To suggest that he could not possibly be aware of any of it, which has been implied repeatedly in this forum, I believe serves only to take him off the hook of responsibility for it.
  12. It’s one thing if they talk about the game like you might hear two guys in a bar talking about a game on TV. It’s another to hear two guys in a bar talk about which Stars Wars movie was their favorite and why while the game is on TV—which I don’t mind, ‘cos it’s a bar.
  13. I agree he’s not fully there, but not because he can’t rattle off farm and hospitality labor statistics. Tose are details, and again, he’s not a details guy. He’s a big picture guy, he know what he needs to do to move the big picture along, and to Oblong’s point, he’s an agent of chaos intending to sow chaos liberally all around us. Do you really think it’s more likely he’s sowing chaos without even intending to and not understanding the consequences of that even a little, than that he’s sowing chaos because he knows it’s easier to manipulate and control people when they’re aways on the defensive? Do you really think he is an empty cipher in the administration that bears his name?
  14. Sure, a sidebar is fun and interestig every once in a while but it is just so, so much with Benetti and Dirks. My thought is, if I want to hear a couple of guys talking to amuse themselves while the game is on TV, I'll go to a bar.
  15. For whatever one might think Benetti's shortcomings are, you can't argue with this.
  16. I prefer we wait until 2011 to make that move.
  17. One of the hot solutions of the past couple of years is to require pitchers go six innings minimum, unless the get hurt and come out after which they get put on the List. The thinking is that pitchers these days know they are coming out early for matchups anyway, so the incentive now is for them to maximize strikeouts, and they've acquire a reliever's mentality and come out flame-throwing from Pitch One. If they know they have to pace themselves for six innings, they won't throw so hard, and their arms and shoulders won't get so hurt. That's the thinking, anyway.
  18. Nahhh, send 'em Trey Sweeney straight up, that should do it. 😉
  19. That reason was Bobby Witt, Jr.
  20. Idiots don't understand what they're doing.
  21. Trump hired Miller who's doing what Trump wants. Trump's just letting him do his job.
  22. Well, that's gonna get you in the first boxcar. 😉
  23. Now we are getting closer to agreement. All we have to settle now is whether he actually knows what he's doing when he does something that furthers that goal. I say he knows.
