  1. Wow, I had to look that up because like I said I was traveling and pretty disconnected and doing other pretty thrilling stuff and not paying attention to things like that in 1985. That had to be a real gut-slammer to Cardinals fans.
  2. It was just uncanny how they couldn’t put wood on the ball solidly. I’m just not used to that. The art of pitching that makes putting wood on the ball solidly difficult is an unusual talent unevenly distributed. To see this talent showcased repeatedly it’s not something to take lightly. I’m still envious of how Kansas City has won two World Series since our team won their last. In October 1985, I was traveling through Europe and whenever you were in a bar in the Netherlands, the World Series with the Royals was on and people were watching it and it just amazed me. I didn’t realize how popular baseball was in Holland.
  3. I’ve been looking forward to this stretch for quite a while. Especially when we were scoring a lot of runs. But now that we’re not, it may not be quite as much a slam dunk as I thought.
  4. The Dodgers and the Yankees are live on ESPN right now and what I’m thinking is that if I’m stuck watching those two teams in the World Series again this fall I’m going to be really really really disappointed.
  5. The Tigers had better be prepared to start hitting again and win at least three of these four games against the lowly Chicago White Sox. Actually, I’d like them to go all Lawrence of Arabia on them and win all four.
  6. But they ended up winning in a ninth thinning walk off, so the Twins have lost two games in a row. And even with most of the Central teams getting beat up lately, the AL Central is the only division in baseball to have five teams at .500 or over
  7. Twins tie the game. Thank God, I’m not a Mariners fan.
  8. The Mariners are trying to lose their lead in the ninth of a 1–0 game once again with Minnesota.
  9. Zach said he couldn’t see the play and Perez was standing in the way and his teammates in the dugout yelled for him to go so he went.
  10. Don’t want them to sit too long because I remember 2006…
  11. Chase Lee now has a 2–0 win loss record.
  12. This is a unspectacular win, but winning these kinds of close unspectacular games instead of losing them is the difference between being a playoff team and leaning against the wall at the prom and watching everybody else dance.
  13. Nine of the AL teams have at least a .500 record, but only eight of the NL teams do.
  14. He seems like an ernest, happy sort of guy and he gets the job done.
  15. You beat me to it because I heard it on the radio just now it’s pretty impressive.
  16. See, he’s not wrong about everything… 😘
  17. It was so nice to have no drama just now. I’ve had enough tight game drama and winning this series on the road against another team in the Central that is not a team to be dismissed is a big deal.
  18. Tommy in. Please don’t bring in a gas can in the ninth.
  19. Another tedious offensive inning for the Tigers.
  20. Chase Lee doin’ his job!
  21. This umpire is equal opportunity when it comes to screwing over pitchers
  22. To strike out….
