If the Americans win by 10 goals, they win Group C and get the #1 seed overall. If the Americans win or get an overtime loss, they win Group C and get the #2 seed overall. If the American lose in regulation, they finish second in Group C and get the #5 seed overall and would have to play Italy in a qualifying game to make the quarter-final.
