Deleterious Posted Sunday at 07:08 AM Author Posted Sunday at 07:08 AM The league is trying a new rule in summer league. End of quarter heaves will still count on team stats, but will not count for the player taking the last second desperation shot. This is to protect a players shooting percentage. I imagine they will see how this works and implement it next season if it goes well. Here is how heaves will be defined: Quote For a shot to be classified as a heave, it must occur in the final three seconds of the first three quarters, be launched from at least 36 feet away, and the play has to start in the backcourt. Deleterious Posted Sunday at 06:54 PM Author Posted Sunday at 06:54 PM Not sure if I even know 7 of the players involved. Quote
buddha Posted Sunday at 07:47 PM Posted Sunday at 07:47 PM who is it on the pelicans who decided that the braintrust of joe dumars and troy weaver was the right choice? what a cursed franchise. finally get the shot at a franchise player and it ends up being king cheeseburger the porn star raper. Deleterious Posted Sunday at 08:03 PM Author Posted Sunday at 08:03 PM Pretty sure that trade was demanded by ownership. Believe it or not, the Pelicans were going to be in the luxury tax this year. That trade got them out of it and saved ownership over $20 million in a tax bill next season. To do that, they had to take on a few extra years of Poole compared to the CJ contract but at a lower AAV which keeps them out of the luxury tax. Quote

Deleterious Posted Monday at 11:18 AM Author Posted Monday at 11:18 AM We all make fun of the Wizards, well, because they are the Wizards. But getting off of that Beal contract might be the best move any GM has made in the last decade. Quote
Betrayer Posted Monday at 03:22 PM Posted Monday at 03:22 PM Whitmore traded to the Wizards for 2 second round picks. Quote
Deleterious Posted Monday at 06:21 PM Author Posted Monday at 06:21 PM Pretty much already knew that. But glad they didn't try to pretend he might make it back to sell more tickets. Quote
Deleterious Posted Monday at 07:05 PM Author Posted Monday at 07:05 PM Wonder why Peterson and Boozer didn't play. Vecenie has Peterson #1, Boozer #2, and Dybantsa #3 in his first mock. Quote
Deleterious Posted Monday at 09:04 PM Author Posted Monday at 09:04 PM They fire a guy because they wanted a more creative offense. Only to hire a defensive minded coach that has struggled with offense. 1 Quote
Deleterious Posted Monday at 10:31 PM Author Posted Monday at 10:31 PM That should put them in the 2nd apron next summer. Congrats Orlando, you are on the clock and basically have 3 years to win before the breakup starts. Quote
Deleterious Posted Monday at 10:44 PM Author Posted Monday at 10:44 PM Yep. Assuming Paolo only gets the 25% max next year, he will make $41 million. 2nd apron starts at $223,372,000. Orlando will have $221,000,000 in committed salary with only 7 players signed. That's a mess. Quote
Deleterious Posted Monday at 11:14 PM Author Posted Monday at 11:14 PM Not the worst idea. But would you do it for older guys too? SGA was supposed to get a 30% max deal. He qualified for the 35% super max instead. Would you also count that as 30%? I would think you have to if you are doing it for the younger guys. 1 Quote
buddha Posted Monday at 11:22 PM Posted Monday at 11:22 PM yet another exception to a rule that was an exception to a rule. its all ridiculous. Quote
Deleterious Posted yesterday at 12:20 AM Author Posted yesterday at 12:20 AM Should hire some lawyers to come in and simplify things. Quote
Deleterious Posted yesterday at 01:20 AM Author Posted yesterday at 01:20 AM He should look good in SL Quote
Deleterious Posted yesterday at 04:19 AM Author Posted yesterday at 04:19 AM The other big change will be draft picks. Teams need to value them a lot more than they have in the past. The new CBA rules demand you find cheap talent, and draft picks are the best way to do that. Quote
buddha Posted yesterday at 04:29 AM Posted yesterday at 04:29 AM amazing athlete? undisciplined? taking ridiculous shots off schedule? the summer league was made to make guys like ace bailey look good. 1 Quote
Deleterious Posted 16 hours ago Author Posted 16 hours ago Made more sense for SGA to wait, and he still signed. Not saying it will happen next year. But Jokic seems like a guy destined for the Barry Sanders retirement plan. Quote
