Ferrari has gone with a smaller turbo than most other teams.  It reduces turbo lag and produces very quick launches.  Lewis demonstrates at today's practice start, where he goes from P9 to P1 before turn 1.  Now, the obvious issue, nobody is going all out in a practice start.  But the Ferrari engines are definitely quicker off the start.

DTS drops today.   I’m still excited to watch even though I don’t binge through in 2 days like I used to.  

Bigger news is Monday is race week!    This time next week we will be through FP2 in Australia.

There is a rumor that on Sunday, Aston Martin will take the formation lap and retire. Lack of engine replacement parts from Honda being the reason.

They are both over a month away. But if the Iran situation is not solved by then, you would think Bahrain and Saudi Arabia would be cancelled.

This has to be internet rumor.  Larry would look like such a fool.  He would go scorched earth if that happens.

Bahrain is one of my least favorite circuits.  I’d love to trade it for Imola.

Antonelli had a big crash in FP3. No way they will have that fixed before qualifying.

Picture and sound are good on AppleTV. Not shocked since their shows always look and sound the best from the streamers.

I love the multi view. Main broadcast on the left, both Ferrari cars stacked on the right. Kind of boring in qualifying, but it will be nice during a race.

The best 2nd car qualifying for Red Bull since Belgium in 2024.

Merc is on another level.    None of the other drivers seem happy with these slower cars that rely more on charging the battery than racing.    I’m interested to see how the speed declines even more when they aren’t in Quali mode.  Hopefully, it will make for good racing and more overtaking.

I'm predicting accidents.

You can't be looking at your steering wheel every 2 seconds to check the battery when in a crowd.  

The cars slowing down at the end of straights is also weird.  What if you don't know the guy in front of you dumped his entire battery and his car slows down 30 mph at the end of a straight to harvest energy.  Someone is going to rear end someone.

Most of the fans will be ok if there’s tighter racing and more overtaking even if the cars are slower.   We shall see tonight but pretty much every non Mercedes driver hates the new car.

Brundle might end up being right. During qualifying he predicted that every car finishing the race will get points.
