Hongbit
Almost time for a new season of the spectacle that is Formula 1 racing. F1 is never short on drama both on and off the circuit but this season is shaping up as something very special on both fronts. Missing my man Deletrious as this thread on our past forum was mainly two guys talking about racing. The sport is growing is popularity so hopefully new fans will jump on. A new season of Drive to Survive starts tomorrow on Netflix and that should be spectacular.
Deleterious
The Scuderia is back! At least until tomorrow when they finish 5 spots lower than they should have because they screwed up their pit strategies.
Deleterious
The cars are gorgeous. I don't think I dislike any of the liveries but Alfa is probably the best looking. I dig the new rule change giving the entire grid free tire choice to start races. No more having use your Q2 tires.
Deleterious
Watch to the end when he gets asked about Merc lol
Hongbit
Good to have you back, Del! I was telling a buddy how great it will be for F1 to have Binotto back making key decisions to impact the championship. Drama will definitely surround. Pretty crazy that Bottas outqualified Russell in an Alfa. Toto definitely didn’t see that coming. I do think Merc will get it figured out. I too love the look of the new cars. That Williams really stands out.
Hongbit
I also like the tire rule. Will make it interesting as they head out on the grid to see the decisions that made. More opportunities for counter strategies.
Deleterious
Yeah, I would not bet against Mercedes. There are rumors F1 will announce a Las Vegas race soon. Supposedly a street circuit including parts of the strip.
Hongbit
Race 1 is here. Excited to see how Ferrari blows this one. I think it’s Max, Checco, Lewis. Charles has some type of bad luck car or tire issue and Carlos gets screwed by a poor race strategy and finishes 4th.
Deleterious
The one two is nice. But I was satisfied midway through the race. After the past few years it was nice watching Charles be able to slug it out with Max for 3 or 4 laps.
Hongbit
Good win for the Scuderia. Congrats Del. It should be more of the same next week and give Ferrari a nice leg up on the rest. Great days for Haas, Alfa, and Merc. Also impressive start for Zhou getting points in his first race. RB had a tough end unlike McLaren who were shit all weekend and seem to have no idea. Hongbit
My first reaction is that it’s definitely not that fuel pump since Red Bull doesn’t gain from publicly sharing the details. Edited March 20, 2022 by Hongbit

Exactly the kind of racing they were looking for with the new cars.
Deleterious
Saw an interview with Charles and he claims he was letting Max get past him on the first straight. He did it so he would have DRS on the second and take back track position. Apparently the telemetry confirms this as Charles was consistently hitting 8th gear down that straight, but only 7th when him and Max were tangling. Deleterious
Hell yeah. For those that don't know. This is Ferrari headquarters and they hang a Ferrari flag at the door for each win in the season.

It would have been interesting if Max picked up on that in the second of those laps and waited until the second straight to overtake. The Ferrari pace would have probably made that a moot strategy overall.

I think we will see another this weekend. Hoping for no brake checking in Jeddah this year.

Deleterious
A year ago I thought he made a huge mistake going to Ferrari. Probably my favorite driver on the grid. Sainz 'extremely close' to signing new Ferrari deal
Deleterious
Sounds like the Vegas race will take place Thanksgiving weekend 2023.
Deleterious
No negative test from Seb yet. So Hulk will be driving for Aston Martin this weekend.
Deleterious
Some group lobbed a missile at the Aramco petroleum facility. The smoke you see here is from that attack.
Hongbit
So F1 to treat this as no big deal. I’m sure the money will protect them.

Hongbit
The safety car should be sponsored by Williams. Latifi has become the new Mazespin.
