Hongbit Posted March 8 Author Posted March 8 Thumbs up for the first 10 laps. Great racing at front which was not expected Quote
Hongbit Posted March 8 Author Posted March 8 I liked the action but I get why the drivers hate it. Quote
Deleterious Posted March 8 Posted March 8 I guess they had 120 overtakes last night. Highest of any race last year was 60. 1 Quote
Deleterious Posted March 10 Posted March 10 Nobody even mentioned the biggest news from down under. Kim was not at the track. Quote
Deleterious Posted March 11 Posted March 11 Today marks the 500th day since Ferrari's last GP win. It was Sainz in Mexico. Quote
Hongbit Posted March 11 Author Posted March 11 It will happen very soon. The car is fast and can challenge Mercedes. Quote
Deleterious Posted March 12 Posted March 12 Ferrari has the upside down wing in China. I guess they call it the Macarena wing, for some reason. Quote
Deleterious Posted March 13 Posted March 13 Curious to see if the new cars improve the sprint at all. They are usually over after the first corner or two. Quote
Deleterious Posted March 13 Posted March 13 Sounds like they are about to cancel Bahrain and Saudi Arabia and will go with 22 races this season. Quote
Deleterious Posted March 14 Posted March 14 So the Japan race is on March 29th. Then it will skip to May 3rd for Miami and then May 24th in Canada. They are going to have one race in 2 months during the season? That is not ideal. Quote

It’s not ideal but making chicken salad, it should allow all the teams much needed time to dial in their cars and updates. The two races of data will be huge. We’ve got 3 well defined tiers and I’m not sure they will change. Championship Merc, Ferrari, McLaren, Red Bull Midfield Alpine, Haas, Audi, Racing Bulls, The Suck Aston, Williams, Cadillac The time should help Aston and Williams the most. I am interested to see how/if McLaren and Red Bull can use this time to improve. Quote
Deleterious Posted March 15 Posted March 15 The Ferrari's are rocket ships at the start. Four cars did not start the race, including both McLaren's. Quote
Deleterious Posted March 15 Posted March 15 Red Bull is the opposite of Ferrari on the start. I bet 7 or 8 cars passed Max on the start. Quote
Deleterious Posted March 15 Posted March 15 Oscar and I have completed the same amount of laps so far this season. Quote

The racing in these new cars is off the charts. F1 has got what they wanted. Great back and forth racing. So much for the narrative that these cars are so easy to drive that anyone off the street could do it. It’s just the opposite and has brought out the racer in all of these guys. Excited to see if the tables turn in Suzuka where being better in the corners should give Ferrari a leg up on Merc. Side note: I chose to go the Race in 30 minute route for this one on Apple TV. A big thumbs up. Quote
Deleterious Posted March 19 Posted March 19 Newey is stepping down as Aston Martin team principle. Johnathan Wheatley is replacing him. Quote
Hongbit Posted March 19 Author Posted March 19 Not terribly surprised by Newey. Im actually more surprised that Wheatley would leave Audi three races into the season. Quote
Deleterious Posted March 19 Posted March 19 Sounds like Wheatley might not be a done deal yet. They are still trying to convince him according to reports. Quote
Deleterious Posted yesterday at 11:59 AM Posted yesterday at 11:59 AM When even the guy dominating the dumb new regulations complains. The amount of bitching this weekend has been fantastic. I only have AppleTV right now to watch Monarch. That last episode airs May 1st and right now I doubt I continue the sub for F1. Quote
Deleterious Posted 20 hours ago Posted 20 hours ago The official F1 account got a community note about trying to fool people. Love it. Quote
Hongbit Posted 3 hours ago Author Posted 3 hours ago I agree there’s a huge problem with qualifying. That needs to get figured out. We are also developing new safety issue as witnessed today with Bearman and Ocon. The racing line doesn’t change but when the drivers save energy does so you create a very dangerous situation of where a car behind is going much faster and has no place to go. I do like the racing and the passing but it is getting a bit hard to determine what’s a real pass versus a driver purposefully saving and taking it back later in the lap when that car charges. Overall, I like what they are trying to do and it’s created a more racy environment but they need some major changes going forward. I hope F1 will take the next 5 weeks to do some serious changes.
