1984Echoes Posted October 25 Posted October 25 Buffalo is LOATHE to lose another player for nothing... And Alex Tuch has so far refused an extension with Buffalo... He's exactly the kind of guy I break the bank for... But we're not getting him for Rasmussen and Berggren. Any trade package from us, for Tuch, will have to include Debrincat. At least from our perspective (IMO). That's not who they would want in return for Tuch in a "hockey trade"... But... Thoughts? Quote
slothfacekilla Posted October 26 Posted October 26 We certainly wouldn't improve in the fighting department Quote
1984Echoes Posted October 28 Author Posted October 28 Maybe... But I'm in a serious "out with the old in with the new" mood. IN: Forwards MBN, Mazur and Danielson. Rasmussen and Berggren are easy decisions (IMO) to move along, even for nothing or close to nothing (5th round picks?). But I'm also still eyeing playoff level toughness. McCabe's a beast and he turned Tuch around in a spin so I am not going to hold that against Tuch as a "be all end all" definition of who he actually is... I love Cat... But if I had a choice between a diminutive productive guy (like Cat or Ciccarelli...) and a bigger power forward type productive guy (I still dream of more Brendan Shanahan's in the Winged Wheel...) I want the size. Ras has the size, but not the heart or the "want to/will to" (just like Mantha...). I think Tuch has both. He's also a free agent this year unwilling to sign for what Buffalo is offering... and the ONLY advantage we have in offering Cat is that he IS signed and under control... I want to clear roster space. And I want to get bigger/tougher wherever possible. Just my 2 cents. Quote
1984Echoes Posted October 28 Author Posted October 28 PS: Has anybody watched any Griffin games? Wallinder seems to be doing well... but is it NHL "good enough"? I'm putting it on one of Buium or Wallinder to eventually push Chiarot down to 3rd pair. It doesn't have to be right away.... Just eager to see Wallinder take the steps to get onto the Red Wings roster... for starters or... first step. Quote
Shinzaki Posted October 28 Posted October 28 If Wallinder could play..he'd have gotten a look by now..I would think. Between NA and Sweden...he's played over 200 games against professionals. Quote
slothfacekilla Posted October 28 Posted October 28 My earlier post was 100% a joke, I had never seen someone hit a spin move in the middle of a fight, let alone turn into a punch. So I found it very funny. I'm not sure either team would do this. Buffalo would probably want someone younger/picks for Tuch or at least someone with more than just 2 years left on their current deal. The Red Wings probably aren't trading DeBrincat outside of some otherworldly offer. I think they care what Kane thinks (I've read that he disliked Walman and Lalonde at least) and his kid is bff's with Cat's kid, good friends with Cat, etc. Granted this is all just conjecture for me but just what I see. At some point (IMO). Quote

At some point (IMO). he's 23 years old and was drafted 5 years ago. he's on his third season in the AHL. what - other than hope - makes you think he's going to be anything more than a 3rd line plugger IF he makes it? keep in mind, you said the same thing about tuomisto a couple months ago.
