Sports_Freak Posted November 5 Posted November 5 Recently, YouTube TV cancelled ESPN and ABC. Along with the Dusney channel. No Monday Night Football for me yesterday. ESPN has an app but it's $29.99 per month. No way...so I found FUBO TV. It has a free trial but I was wondering if anyone's ever tried it and what do they think of it? I really miss ESPN and I thought it would only be a short time until these billionaires figured out how to share the riches but I guess it's time to start looking for alternatives. HULU Live TV? Sling? Any suggestions? Quote
Shelton Posted November 5 Posted November 5 Fubo is great. It has the local tigers/wings/pistons network and almost all of the various sports and entertainment networks. It also just works. Interface is straightforward. One downside is that it doesn’t have tnt/tbs. But because I have those through hbo/amazon I don’t sweat it. I’m surprised at how widespread YouTube tv has become, that when it loses channels folks act there are no options and it’s the end of the world. It’s never been easier to cancel/switch. Just hit the bricks. Regardless, I’m still surprised that YouTube tv is the monocultural streaming cable bundle, especially when it doesn’t have the local sports. Quote

Fubo having FDS is the deciding factor. I'm going to switch it tomorrow. YouTube may rethink their business practice, losing both ABC and ESPN will cost them. As well as Disney. Quote

Essentially they want ABC and ESPN, but they don't want all the nonsense channels that Disney wants to force them to take as well. In short, they are trying to move back towards a traditional Cable style, where you can pick and choose packages, but also include other 3rd party apps into 1 'menu' via Youtube where you have everything in one interface. 1 Quote
Edman85 Posted November 5 Posted November 5 I have Hulu... Overall, I am generally happy with it, but it had some major issues early October and I couldn't stream parts of game 2 of the Mariners series. Also doesn't have Bally/FD/(whatever sportsbook that buys the naming rights with the money they have pilfered from gambling addicts )Sports, but for me that means no Rays/Marlins games. Quote

I didn't realize i could get WXYZ (ABC in detroit) through my Amazon account. I can watch Monday Night Football on that, I think. Hopefully, YouTube TV works out their issues. Billionaires trying to figure out how to share money....ugh. Quote
GalagaGuy Posted November 6 Posted November 6 I prefer StreamEast and a hundred others just like it. Quote
Deleterious Posted November 6 Posted November 6 I read that MNF viewership was down 21% this week. Quote
Sports_Freak Posted November 10 Author Posted November 10 I read Sling Orange has a 1 day $5 option. ESPN and ABC included. That may be an option for YouTube TV subscribers. Quote
Deleterious Posted November 10 Posted November 10 YouTubeTV gave everyone a $20 credit. You have to go into your account and claim it though. Its listed under Updates. Quote

Not happy, but not happy with any of them I've ever been with. I did hit the button last week for the 20 bucks off on the next bill. Wonder if they will Lucy and the football on that? Quote

Wouldn't shock me if they give it to the ones that already claimed it and removed the option to claim it for those that haven't yet. Quote

I had Direct TV for a long time. Went with that for the NFL Sunday ticket. Over the years became too expensive and not worth it, and technology changed. Now streaming is the way to go. I went fiber this summer, added an extender to get it to a hard place, and we are good to go. But it all keeps changing. What do we want, and how and where do we get it. Makes my head hurt. Quote
Screwball Posted Saturday at 02:01 AM Posted Saturday at 02:01 AM I just got the official email. Quote
Deleterious Posted Saturday at 02:53 AM Posted Saturday at 02:53 AM Yep. All of our ESPN channels are back. But it says ABC is only available on demand in this area. I'm sure they will have it sorted out by time Georgia-Texas kickoff tomorrow night. Quote
Deleterious Posted yesterday at 08:22 PM Posted yesterday at 08:22 PM Some interesting stuff in there. 4 takeaways from the ESPN-YouTube TV deal Quote
Screwball Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago 3 hours ago, Deleterious said: Some interesting stuff in there. 4 takeaways from the ESPN-YouTube TV deal VERY interesting. I have YouTube TV. I got an email today for a NFL Sunday Ticket deal for $48 bucks a month for the rest of the season. Since I lost ESPN due to the spat - I bought a subscription to ESPN, including ESPN+ so I could watch college basketball games. The only way to get that for me, until recently with some of these deals, was to pay for that exclusively. When I had Direct TV I had to pay the monthly charge, same with YouTube TV for the + since they only stream. According to what I can find about this new deal, all the ESPN stuff, ESPN Unlimited included, is suppose to be in the package. But there is a bunch of buts it appears. I want to cancel before I get charged for the next month. That buys me about 4 beers. We'll see how this goes. Quote
