Zakk_Wylde Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago I'm embarrassed to say that it's literally been over a decade since the last game I was able to attend in person. Where is the best place to park these days? What kind of cost should I be budgeting for parking? "Back In My Day", I used to park in an underground lot below Grand Circus Park that was steps from the park and it only cost $5. Is that lot still around? I imagine the days of it costing $5 are long gone? Quote
oblong Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago I parked there in the beginning of Comerica but once got stuck via a stalled vehicle so never again. The free and low cost parking around the stadium are pretty much gone with new construction going on. I now use the ParkWhiz app to get parking ahead of time as many of the lots are part of their system. You pay ahead of time and get a barcode to get in. If you want to try street parking over off of Cass north of 75 that's an option if you don't mind walking. It's usually in the $20-30 range. Quote

We had no idea why we couldn't get out, but it took forever and then it was fine, cars finally began moving and we drove up and all traffic was gone. Ever run into an issue where you have an issue getting to a lot that you grabbed a spot via the ParkWhiz app? That's been part of my hesitancy with it, that i'll pick a spot, be happy with the price and it'll end up where traffic is stupid or construction pushes everyone to one area that I have to go to for that spot. Whereas without it, if something like that is happening I could just go around and try to find an open lot a little further away and just enjoy the walk. Quote

If you come in from the West, I like to take 94 to Livernois, South down to Mich Ave, East to Cass turn north, cross Grand River and all the lots on the West side of Woodward are right there. Also an easy exit going back the same way as you stay out of the ramp traffic near the stadium. Haven't been down this year yet but I think those also were $20-30 as of last season. Quote

If traffic looks to be backing up near 96 I either get off at Warren and that to grand river or will try to hit the grand river exit, which was closed a long time. Heading down grand river if you stay in the right you avoid the line of people, who for whatever reason but I’m glad they do, try to turn onto the 75 service drive. It looks like a backup but you fly right by. Then turn down Elizabeth near the new UM school. My lots are either 2130 or 2055 Cass. 2055 is better I thjnk because a right turn exiting takes me to Michigan and I take that back to Trumbull to get back to 96 to 94, avoiding the traffic at grand river and 75. if there’s a ton of people or an event at Ford Field then I pick a lot by LCA. For wings games I usually park in the structure if I’m fortunate to get a suite pass, if not then of those same lots and walk it. Quote

Just avoid those closest. The ones I mention above are usually stress free. Depending on where you come from. Quote
Cruzer1 Posted 41 minutes ago Posted 41 minutes ago Rob, I was at a game a couple of weeks ago, and parked in the z-parking garage using that app. It was quite a long walk, both to the game and from. It cost 15.90, but a better deal might have been right off Madison, where they are now accepting credit cards, and it cost 20 bucks that night. Quote
