  1. here it's day 3 of no mask mandate. the few places I've been to in that time still have signs requiring them. no one seems too bothered. even in line at a food cart today—outdoors—everyone was masked (including noses).
  2. I know! I might as well just retire, go out on top.
  3. Holy crap. I stared at it for a good five minutes and nearly guessed something halfway around the globe, but I had my "aha!" moment just in time and got today's Worldle in one shot. #Worldle #41 1/6 (100%) 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩🎉 https://worldle.teuteuf.fr
  4. since it lately seems too non-random for the Random Randomness thread... I haven't played Wordle etc yet, but someone at work posted Worldle today: https://worldle.teuteuf.fr/ #Worldle #40 3/6 (100%) 🟩🟩⬜⬜⬜↙️ 🟩🟩🟩🟨⬜⬇️ 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩🎉 https://worldle.teuteuf.fr
  5. (yes, "ruble" is trending. and it's gonna be quite a day.)
  6. this was one of my early songs (the intro at least). pretty much my favorite song ever and the bulk of the reason I have a 12-string guitar.
  7. of that I have no doubt.
  8. lolwut
  9. there were a few. but yeah, agreed.
  10. the "anti-car" vehicle is apparently Ukranian, according to the comments. someone suggested that that might happen if the car was suspected of carrying a (hostile) bomb. I didn't watch the entire video (and don't care to unless nothing worse happens after the car gets run over), though, so I dunno.
  11. https://www.npr.org/2021/11/19/1057298058/biden-nominates-new-chair-for-postal-service-board-ousts-dejoys-allies confirmation hearings need to happen.
  12. Biden can't fire him directly. he needs to "update" the board of directors or whatever, and then they can fire him if they choose.
  13. basically, yeah. they also apparently round their lips when they make the 'v' sound. like 'oo' with the top teeth touching the bottom lip.
  14. in Ukranian, the first vowel is what we would call a short 'i'. the second syllable is close to "yeev" (but a pretty short 'ee'). stress goes on the first syllable. the Ukranian pronunciation is probably indistinguishable from "keev" to our English-speaking ears.
