  1. Just watched the trailer for Killers of the Flower Moon and I'm officially hooked. The book is on my list to read as soon as I finish Good Night Irene, which should also either be made into a movie or better yet an HBO or Nexflix type series. It could be the female version of Band of Brothers.
  2. Way back when the drug reps would leave lots of samples with doctors, who in turn passed them out to some of their more deserving patients.
  3. It kind of surprised us, his dad as well. He does read a lot of historical fiction and has loved maps for years. We keep urging his parents to send him here for a week or so. There are several camps in the area that focus on that. Not to mention archeology camps for his age group. Where were these things when I was his age?
  4. One of my prescriptions runs me $600+ after copay. The first month is about $6500. It's still considered experimental and can only be prescribed thru a speciality pharmacy. Fortunately it seems to be effective, we think...
  5. And they blame their lack of "acceptable" profits and price increases on "theft". They are practically daring people to steal.
  6. This year's back to school picture posted for my grandson. The line that said what he wanted to be when he grew up....he wrote Historian. (He's entering 6th grade)
  7. I can't see why these places don't go the Sam's Club route, scan and go makes the dreaded run at least less appalling. Everything is on your phone, in fact you can even pay that way. Pick up bags or boxes on your way out the door. Have a designated entrance and exit with two people spot checking your order as you leave. Give a discount to those who use the scan and go method, maybe a smaller one for the self checkout. Charge a premium for checks. Full price if you use the regular check out line. The public will go crazy, but most of them are there already.
  8. The Electoral College was probably relevant when voting was limited to white male landowners. Also when Electors were appointed by state legislators. It became irrelevant when states decided electing those who actually voted for the office of President and Vice President a popularity contest. I challenge anyone who still supports this archaic system to name his or her elector the past three Presidential elections. I bet less than 1% of the voting population even comes close.
  9. You know Jerry is having the ghost of Tom Landry scheme up a play where there are three QB's in the backfield. Like the ball and three cups trick. Fans get to vote/bet on which QB will get the ball next. The next big NFL/DraftKings thing...
  10. My favorite so far
  11. Sit down, take a look at yourself Don't you want to be somebody? Someday somebody's gonna see inside You have to face up, you can't run and hide
  12. I say we ad 35 pounds to the weight and subtract three inches for the lifts in his shoes..
  13. If nothing else she just eliminated herself from the VP contest
  14. We've been watching a CNN documentary on Watergate and Nixon. It includes some comparisons to the Trump Presidency. One thing that just caught my attention was part of Nixon's farewell address. This quote. "Those that hate you don't win unless you hate them. Then you destroy yourself. DJT never learned the second part...
  15. The Trumpy Bunch....The Trumpy Bunch...Insurrections Are Us
  16. Tell me again which party pushes "cancel culture" https://x.com/mmfa/status/1694456731055567246?s=61&t=akgNyUltuSb7RN54lulxTw Sean Hannity says Chris Christie has been banned from Fox News' post-debate coverage
  17. Looks like it might have been a two for..
  18. We've been using Banfield Vet service for several years now. For the most part they're sufficient. However, lately they've gotten a bit lax in their customer service. They are friendly enough and efficient, but I've gotten perturbed when our boarding/day car facility lets me know a required vaccination is just a few days away. Why didn't the vet remind me last month when I was there for another vaccine? Or why can't we coordinate with them about setting up appoints on a regular basis instead of waiting for the last minute. Especially when they tell me the vaccine expires in two days but they don't have availability for more than two weeks. Then shrug when I call them on it.
  19. This could be the new brain trust.
  20. Read the article. I'm sure they'll be able to find someone whose willing to work for peanuts or less to replace him
  21. Reinsdorf needs to sell both teams and spend the rest of his days in Arizona
