  1. And speak to it. As often as possible. As G2 pointed out: "Here is my record as President...." That knocks it out of the ballpark for Biden. No debate required.
  2. The other thing Biden needs to do, is... Immediately after Nikki Haley bows out of the race, is to call her and offer her a position in his new administration (assuming he wins November). Back to the U.N, or whatever, if she wants it. He can campaign on that. "Trump, I'm adding some of your favorite people to my next Administration. Starting with Nikki Haley, who wants to get back to the U.N. I'm adding her to my team. I am also placing in charge of Women's Rights in America, Stormy Daniels and E. Jean Carroll, names you should be intimately familiar with. All your best friends are now with me." That should also get the "ball rolling" so to speak. Mostly, Trump going apoplectic.
  3. Biden: "Donald, it's hard to set up a debate when your time is mostly spent in a courtroom. What are you charged with? Lying about sexual assault against a woman? Threatening a state official to overturn election results? Illegal use of funds to pay off a porn star? Attempting to overthrow the Constitution of the United States through violence? Donnie Boy, I think the debate is over already. You're a loser." That should set off the fireworks.
  4. I would assign that blame to... A lack of better options.
  5. But also... These extensions would take effect in 2025, not 2024. So the Lions have two years to do some cap management to be able to manage the extensions to our best players...
  6. Which tells me the Lions need a plan B. Whether he says he's playing in too much pain and wants to still be healthy enough to enjoy his family life and retires... Or he plays 1 more year, or 2 more years (I think he's signed through 2026...): There needs to be a strong backup plan. Glasgow's a good sign I think for 2 more years. He can start, or back up, or shift as necessary, to all 3 interior O-Line spots. IMO, he's a must re-sign, I think, for a 2-year contract. For starters. In the draft, I would like a top 3 rounds interior player who can play both C and OG. If it's a high-level player: The guy can be an instant starter... at LG. Jonah Jackson is most likely leaving, so that leaves the door open for a TOP draftee (first few rounds type...) to grab a starter's spot... and if/when Ragnow hangs up his spikes, and don't forget there could be a mid-season serious injury... then it's a guy who can slide over to Center, and Awosika or Sorsdal or similar can take over at LG. It's the reason I want the highest skill level of the draftee to be able to play Center. Options.
  7. No one is arguing against that. The 49'ers were skilled enough to take advantage of a few Lions bad plays to win the game. The 49'ers are a very skilled, experienced, top-notch team. Credit to the 49'ers for being such a highly skilled team and for pulling out that win. But they don't win that game without some luck. Or Lions bad luck/ bad plays if you will. Josh Reynolds still had the drops, regardless of how talented the 49'ers are. The Lions made several bad plays that fell directly into the 49'ers hands. If the Lions don't make those bad plays... 49'ers "hands" is completely irrelevant, no matter how talented they are. They won that game, with both skill.... and luck.
  8. I'll take one of each. Sneed and 1 of your guys... Oh, and a draftee to develop too...!
  9. But they could hit 140 HR's with 600 RBI's and we could bludgeon teams to death.
  10. I'm going to make an odd statement here... And it's sort of directed at ewsieg... But I want to make a very specific point, see if you can spot it: If Trump were to, somehow... win the DEMOCRATIC nomination for President (Biden: "I'm tired. I'm going home.") And Nikki Haley then gains the Republican nominee for President. Then I am voting for Nikki Haley. I don't care what her platform is. Don't care if it's a conservative Republican platform. I vote for her. No. Hesitation. Whatsoever. Just my 2 cents.
  11. Maybe we could have an All-Stiff Infield shortly in the future? 1B - Tork 2B - Keith SS - McGonigle 3B - Jung
  12. Either formula would work for age 60... I'm just sayin'...
  13. Don't the Chiefs also have Chris Jones as a free agent? I think that's who gets franchised. I think Sneed slips into free agency due to Chief's cap woes... A prime target for the Lions. But... we'll see.
  14. I think this is it. Sutton lost safety coverage when we started to blitz more. No more safety coverage, he's now on an island as you point out... And he's getting burned by it.
  15. This is what I am thinking also... to a (D)T. Or DE.
  16. And/ or/ also: something that is just further down the road...
  17. Trade Husso in the summer Let Cossa battle Lyon for the 31 goalie spot in 2024-25.
  18. OK, that's cool... I just knew FDR had used that... I didn't make a connection to the World's Fair.
  19. Also... "Best players"... Who is 36 next year, And has a problematic hip injury... And is a pending Unrestricted Free Agent... Does NOT ring with me.
  20. Age and hip. And if Yzerman could ever swing that Trade Machine trade... I guess... put in certain terms: I think you guys may be in "MUST MAKE the PLAYOFFS NOW!" mode... Which I get... it's been a long while and everyone would like to see the team get back into the playoffs like... right now. I mean... I would too... But I think I am looking more long-term, AND on the playoffs, and to have a stronger playoff-team than what it looks like we have this year... But it's mainly the longer-term outlook that is driving me... Based on that: 1) I see pending FA's, problem contracts tied to aging or underperforming players (particularly Chiarot and Husso), and other assorted sundries as usable assets to try to improve the future of the team. That includes flawed players (I think a guy like Ghost is flawed... great power play guy, but **** on defense) who I would love to upgrade. And if we gain a player, I think that makes others expendable: Just to use Hanifan as an example: If we get him, with a 6-year extension... then who are our top LH'ed D'men? Hanifan - paired with Seider. Edvinsson - he's the highest future. Walman - best all-around current NHL'er. And pick a 4th guy: Maatta? Chiarot? Albert Johansson down in Grand Rapids as another futures guy with offense that may be a lighter version of Ghost but he's looking more responsible on D? Wallinder and Buium are further away... but the key point here is that after the top 4, EVERYONE else after that is tradable. Go ahead and pick Chiarot if you wish.. but I'm going to select Maatta, just to use as an example. It means that I am willing to trade Chiarot, Johansson, Wallinder & Ghost. I'm willing to trade anyone who is not "tied down". We MAY be outbid for a Lindholm, or a Hanifan... but I'm not changing the overriding philosophy that I'm running on. If we're outbid, so be it. Also... an overpay for a Ghost just adds more tradable ammunition to send over for a Hanifan IMO. And Hanifan is an upgrade over Ghost... IMO. 2) A couple of key things to me are: (A) Yzerman is going to want to build the BEST playoff-team that he can. And that may include a Larionov or Shanahan or other type trade. It doesn't have to be "last piece" either... I view it more as just adding another "building block", using any method necessary to do so (within the constraints of the Cap... I am aware of that...). Also, (B) the team is going to have more assets than are usable at the NHL level. Not all these prospects are going to make it, obviously... but he's going to have to "manage" all of these assets, and that includes letting go of guys in trades in order to add the right pieces to build that "high-level" playoff team. IMO: He's in that position, right now, to start making those decisions. I believe that there are players out there that better than what we currently have, and make us a stronger playoff-level team. I'm looking for Yzerman to start looking for more of a "high-impact" deal than a "plug a leak" type of deal. Which, he's been really good at. I'm just looking for the next step...
  21. The '39 Worlds Fair was inspiration to FDR? He gave that speech at the State of the Union in front of Congress January 1941.
  22. Too bad. I'm good on that machine.
  23. Which would prevent any overpay... Good point and I understand Kane's attractiveness to the team. If we can't get an overpay... the easy decision is to keep him and take our chances with offering him another 2-ish years (he's 36 next year, coming off that hip surgery, I wouldn't be interested in a big commitment to him, either in money or years...); and hoping he can maintain health. If he teaches the other skilled players tricks for maintaining control of the puck against bigger guys... And elevates our overall play... he's worth it. So, therefore, I don't let him go unless it's an overpay...
  24. Which still does NOT make my calculation incorrect. If teams are going to OVERPAY... are they not going to OVERPAY for Kane? Or Ghost? Or only non-Red Wings are eligible to be overpaid for? Just asking. If a team OVERPAYS for those two... can we not turn around and take those assets that we've been overpaid with and overpay WITH those same assets for someone we want? Besides: Both of those guys are pending unrestricted. We either: hold onto them as the playoffs overrides anything else. And let them go at the end of the year for nothing. Or re-sign them to another contract. OR... trade them for an "overpay" before the deadline. There ARE choices there. On Kane: Hard to consider letting him go as he controls the puck like no other on the team, but if a team offers an OVERPAY? On Ghost: He runs the PP1 so that's hard to lose. But he's also -20 and he's always a negative on D. I say trade him if we can get an overpay. Seider will take over on the PP1... we bring up Edvinsson... I think our overall "game" (both O and D) gains "net" improvement, even with some loss on the PP without Ghost. There are others on the team with PP skills that can make up for that... IMO.
  25. Yeah, this part... I truly love.
