  1. No one was covering 1B so McG beat it out fair and square. If the 1B'man would have thrown home it's possible they would have ruled it fielders choice. File it under "you snooze (2B'man) you lose".
  2. Yeesh! 5-0 in the blink of an eye. Bill the Cat would say "Pffffttthhht!!!" Or at least: "PFAADT!!!"
  3. PS: Awesome IF chop single by McGonigle! No play possible, scores the run. Noone covered 1B. Not that I'm hoping he gets gobs of hits like this... it would indicate some struggles centering the pitch... but in this instance, it worked.
  4. Opposing picture is B. Pfaadt? I have visions of Bill the Cat dancing around inside my head...
  5. Jettison: Hamonic, JVR, Compher, Perron, Talbot. Rasmussen? Should Albert Johansson be on the trading block along with Compher and Ras? Who would want any of them? A bottom-feeder looking for a "vet" for a future 6th or 7th? DO IT Yzerman!!! And DON'T replace them with more horse **** "veterans" that are past their prime or not any good to begin with. Excuse my language but... Bring up the ****ing kids and ride them to WHATEVER record we get with them. DO something DIFFERENT Yzerman! YEEESH!!! Pathetic.
  6. I'm on board with... moving out all the past-their-prime vets and bringing up a bunch of kids. Let them struggle. Let them make rookie mistakes. Let them rise to the occasion if they are able to do so. Send anyone who can't get past their struggles back down to GR for more seasoning. If it's a bad year and we finish bottom 10 team sobeit. Just... Do... Something... Different.
  7. PATHETIC. Just... Absolutely... pathetic.
  8. Right... But sometimes, a team just can NOT defeat the referees... So I always have it in my mind to win the game DESPITE what the ref's are doing or calling... That's hard to do when the refs are favoring one guy over everyone else (sort of like the LeBron calls of old or the Kobe calls or the...); but I want a tough-minded team that can overcome obstacles like this. NO one is going to change how the ref's bias their calls except for the league making them do so... or they take it upon themselves to change the way they are calling the game. Good luck with that one...! And the Pistons nearly DID so! They nearly beat the Refs/ SGA/ Thunder DESPITE the favor-one-guy-only calls... If they'd have only hit a few more of their FT's. IMO.
  9. With Greene, Tork & Carpenter all low-OBP guys, Chas is correct. Harris is probably right now trying to work out how he can move on from each of them before they get too expensive. Nothing this season. But maybe this offseason... And as a kid or two graduates onto MLB... that makes it easier to push another guy that doesn't fit Scott's philosophy out the door. Stay competitive, able to reach the playoffs each year, as well as move on from bad-fit guys as the opportunity arises... That's the needle Harris will be trying to thread the next few years... IMO. PS: So far I think Keith & Dingler stick. But it's really hard seeing anyone else survive from the old regime... Anyone else?
  10. If they are 10 over... Does that mean we can anticipate an additional 10 dudes getting the heave-ho? I'm assuming we have 10 injured and as they return to the active list that's when another domino shall fall...?
  11. The question though... which could be only in my mind... Is if he was the right guy to DFA? I get it he's at the bottom of the roster... I was just thinking there was at least one or two guys even lower... Hence my comment that I thought he was decent. So, gotcha, Scott felt differently... I'm still wondering what exactly was in the Dylan-recipe that Harris thought he didn't taste so good. No need to answer.,, Just wondering/ my mind is wandering off into left field again...
  12. Good. Got it done.
  13. No. It wasn't. That was my point. Even WITH the FT disparity... (that was definitely a hometown-friendly or SGA-friendly or even BOTH-friendly whistles... quite a bit ridiculous in fact...) The Pistons STILL could have won, in regulation, by making 5-6 more of THEIR free throws and not shooting 52% at the FT line. THAT is what lost them the game... not making their OWN FT's. IMO.
  14. Honestly, I thought he was a decent Tigers reliever and there were/are better candidates to dump for a spot...
  15. We dumped Dylan Smith for absolutely nothing? That just seems odd to me... Why would Harris do that?
  16. His OBP was .290 last year and .320 for his career. Just not the right guy to lead off. I think ALL or MOST of us are on board with: IMO: Against Righties: McGonigle-Torres-Keith (damn he looks good so far in a teeny tiny sample size!!!) -Tork-Greene-Dingler-Carpenter Against Lefties: Torres-McGonigle-Tork-Keith-Greene-Dingler-Carpenter That 7th spot (and 8th and 9th) would be a great spot to pinch hit for, as needed... Just my 2 cents.
  17. He's going to have to master hitting MLB breaking balls and change-of-speed. I think he will do it... But rookie year = bumpy road while he's figuring out these pitchers...
  18. The Pistons win this game if they MAKE some of their free throws... or at least more than the 12 of 23 (52% YEEGADS!!!) they shot last night. I watched the whole game. The Pistons, down 5 of their top players, should have beat SGA and his Thunder. IMO.
  19. That would do it. Mel... please come back to the Detroit Lions!!!
  20. PS: I think I would want both: Malachi Lawrence (pick him 2nd round at #50 or wherever Holmes needs to get to... to grab him) to play the wide-9 in a 5-man front on passing downs... Malachi sucks as a run-defender but as a wide-9, I think he would be OK there... But where he REALLY excels is at rushing the passer. Big, fast, and an array of pass-rush moves/ techniques/ etc. For all the envy Tater and others have in a pass-rushing specialist... this guy would be IT. Barnes can do that too I guess... but I like having both options... And as for getting a Safety/ LB'er hybrid, I am ALL for that. Good in coverage, can take on TE's and RB's and short area coverage... as well as be fast and physical if it turns out to be a run instead of pass. Who fits this description? As a draft prospect I mean? I haven't looked for this type of player...
  21. Then who is the 2nd LB'er? The hybrid safety-LB'er you mentioned earlier?
  22. ... Human.
