  1. And I'll wager naziholic doesn't have the balls to come in here and admit how completely and totally the Brainless **** of a Moron that he voted in as President has ****ed this up.
  2. We signed a UDFA linebacker (Saturday night or Sunday... Erick Hunter, so already known...): For $3 mill.: Lions Make Big Financial Commitment to Land Athletic Rookie LB So my guess is... they think pretty highly of him making the 53-man roster would be my guess. Probably as a special teamer to begin with and then... expand his role eventually? Seems to be quite a commitment to a UDFA... Unless these numbers are incorrect?
  3. Brad Holmes said he had considered moving up in the 1st to get Miller so I think you are correct... Somehow, he must have gotten enough intel that indicated Miller would fall to them at 17 so he didn't need to make a move. I think you are spot on with Baltimore...
  4. Workman has NEVER had bat-to-ball skills... IIRC, prior to this season he's been pretty much a .220 hitter... in college and in the minors. What gives?
  5. Why are we bringing Reggie White into this conversation? He was a 6'5" 295 # monster of a DE. Both Derrick Moore at 6'4" 255 and Maxx Crosby at 6'5" 255 do NOT resemble him at all. Ridiculous.
  6. My "frame rate" perception has slowed down terribly at my age. I can see clearly at a specific distance to my eyes. I used to be 20/20 and never noticed any adjustment from distance to "close-up". But now, it seems like it takes my eyes a minute or two to adjust to a change in depth so distance looks "fuzzy" to me (I'm no longer 20/20), but worse, movement by an object and my eyes cannot adjust quickly enough. I REALLY noticed this 15 years ago when we were playing lunchtime wiffle ball and my eyes were just NOT adjusting to the wiffle ball coming in fast enough to get a good swing. Only at the very last second was the wiffle ball clear enough to me that I could recognize spin, or lack thereof, or anything.
  7. Similarly... I believe everyone here has stated that there is no reason to sign any of Greene, Tork, or Carpenter to a second contract. But let's test that theory (and I'll even add in Casey Mize to this little exercize): Said X Player _____ _____ tells the Tigers they are willing to sign a 3-4 year contract at a "hometown discount". Who says no to that: The player (meaning the player will NOT be open to a short hometown discount contract with the Tigers) or the Tigers? We know Skubal is an absolute no to that because he and Boras are single-minded bent on testing the free agent market. But of the following players, who says no to that, the player, the team, and/or the fans? Casey Mize, 3 years below market deal: Who says no: Casey ____ ? Tigers _____ ? Motown Morons ______ ? Kerry Carpenter, 3 years below market deal: Who says no: Kerry ____ ? Tigers _____ ? Motown Morons ______ ? Riley Greene, 4 years below market deal: Who says no: Riley ____ ? Tigers _____ ? Motown Morons ______ ? Torkelson, 3 years below market deal: Who says no: Tork ____ ? Tigers _____ ? Motown Morons ______ ?
  8. Yaya Diaby: 6'4" 270, decent but not great pass-rusher. Maxx Crosby: 6'5" 255, nasty, aggressive mauler as a pass-rusher, not quite as good as an edge setter. Averages 10 sacks per year, 38 QB pressures per year, 3 passes defensed per year. Derrick Moore: 6'4" 255, nasty, aggressive mauler as a pass-rusher, not quite as good as an edge setter. Had 10 sacks last year with UM in 12 games, and 41 QB pressures and 3 PD's. Moore may not "become" Maxx Crosby 2.0... but I think his play "style" is far more similar to Crosby than anyone else. Including Diaby. I'm placing my expectations on DM at Maxx Crosby 2.0. Sorry if some people on here get upset by that.
  9. I'm going to be interested in following Moore's career. He's phenomenal as a pass-rusher but needs to be coached up in the "setting-the-edge" department. I believe (from the scouting reports). Or maybe he just needs to add 10 pounds of muscle. Nearly (1/8" off) 6'4", 255 pounds (add 10 for 265)... I think a Maxx Crosby 2.0 may be even beyond our expectations... Or does anyone else want to drink this koolaid? The thought popped up in my head this morning... So what does everyone else think? I'm going to pop this thread up to the top... every now and then... based on Derrick's career ups and downs...
  10. +1 more: UDFA Aidan Keanaaina is a DT.
  11. Verlander when he gets back? Melton when he gets back (a little later...)?
  12. Not just darts... There was some MAD movement on all his pitches. Fast (darts) and furious (wild movement like a tornado...) is a deadly combination!
  13. If we're talking about a 1st round DE pick... Then we're hoping the right OT slides to within our #50 range and Brad can go get him, one way or another. Now the list is Iheanachor (but only if he slides), Lomu (same), or maybe someone like Gennings Dunker, Caleb Tiernan...? PS: Would you trade a 2027 1st rounder for a 2nd rounder this year at or near the top of the round? It's a risk for us that if we don't finish in the 28-ish to 30-ish range that we gave up too much value... But let's say it guarantees that Brad can pick one of Miller, Lomu or Iheanachor at the top of the 2nd (and we use #50 elsewhere...). Is it worth it?
  14. I like the Dunlap comp... That would probably be best case scenario and I would be all for that... Davenport would probably be the downside comp but he's been derailed with too many injuries. Same type of player though... Can NOT anticipate or expect that (injury filled career) from a new draftee so I would hope for more of a Dunlap-type career, or as close to that as he can get...
  15. I don't mind the K's as much as I mind the subpar OPS (.806 last year and .724 so far this year...). Those aren't terrible. For a regular player. But for Riley Greene... I think that's terrible.
  16. Two things to note here: SIX OT's (and one Lions-type OG in Ioane) taken between picks 9 and 23. I think Brad is going to be able to select the OT that he wants at #17. They're trying to keep their true interest in which guy they like the most "under wraps"... So long as it is NOT Proctor... I'd be good with any of them. I have a hard time trying to choose a favorite between Fano, Ioane, Freeling, Miller, and Iheanachor (actually, Lomu and Mauigoa too...). So I'm going to be happy if he can get any one of those guys. 2nd: Max Llewyllyn is a pass-rush specialist for anyone who is interested. He doesn't do much against the run at all. He's not fast at 4.80-85 in the 40... But he's a mauling brawling high-energy attack guy so... Might be good enough to have in the rotation. I would prefer Malachi Lawrence and his 4.52 speed in the 40. But I could be OK with a brawler like Llewyllyn. I was constantly grabbing him in my Lions mock drafts so... Also, he's 6' 5.5" and 260 #'s... maybe the Lions can "coach him up" to also be effective against the run game? He can start out on ST's and in pass-rush sub-packages... and then we could just go from there. Uhhh... but I still would prefer Malachi "Speed Kills" Lawrence in the 2nd... if he gets to us at 50. Again, here... at around #50, there are multiple DE's that look like they are in the 2nd round range so hopefully one of them, that Dan loves, slips to 50 or to within close enough range that Brad can move up to grab him if he feels it's necessary. Just my 2 cents.
  17. I would think if the team wants to make an immediate switch it's not with Clark but one of the other utility players in Toledo. They have several RH'ed OF'ers and Trei Cruz, a switch-hitter playing both IF and OF... If Lee is in any danger there's also Gage Workman down in Toledo. There may be some musical chairs on the bench this year. But if Clark comes up... He's taking over CF. Turning Baez into a "play-him-wherever we need him" guy, Parker Meadows into Wally Pipp, and possibly ending Zach McKinstry's Tigers career. (Where will Zach play if Baez is the primary backup IF'er...?) Just my 2 cents.
  18. Bathroom break: "Jack! Cover me this inning!"
  19. But Drumpf is only TWO years old... Emotionally that is... We've all heard of the "terrible two's"... Well, we've been watching someone's terrible two's, in and out of the White House... For 10+ years now.
  20. First off... I was being facetious. Why is everybody getting so serious about a frickin' JOKE? Kane and Blueger are both free agents after the season. What are you asking exactly, with two of those guys FREE AGENTS? Why are you even including them? What are you trying to pull here? It was a FREAKING JOKE. Then again... I would trade Rasmussen, Compher, and Albert Johansson to the Canucks for Filip Chytil and Drew O'Connor and let the draft picks fall where they may...! GET 'ER DONE STEVIE!!!
  21. Yes. CPAC (and MAGA) = BOUGHT and PAID for by Vladimir MF'ing Putin. Through Orban. Yup d'vya mat to the both of you (Putin & Orban so noone gets confused...) and to Drumpf... and to CPAC... and to MAGA. A bunch of fascist ****scum anti-USA (Constitution/ democracy) scumbags. May you ALL drown when the toilet flushes...
  22. PS: How desperate is Vancouver? Rasmussen, Compher, and Albert Johansson to the Canucks for a future 2nd round pick. Get 'er done Stevie !!!
  23. I want Stevie to quit signing mediocre veterans and to instead throw all of our GR prospects into the fire. There's a new wave of kids just now getting to GR... THEY can get some AHL experience. I DO want Stevie to go out and sign one free agent, but just one: Whichever biggest, baddest, fastest top line scoring power forward he can find. And the dude may not hit on all those cylinders. In my mind, that's Alex Tuch. Are there any alternative/ better ideas? That creates a top line of Raymond-Larkin-Tuch. Yeah, I'm good with that. Signing Tuch may cost us signing back Kane... I'm OK with that, Cat-Copp & either Finnie or Mazur works for me. The 3rd line I want Kasper-Danielson-MBN. For the entire year. let them grow together. make mistakes... etc. Just a WAG, they'll be significantly better the second half of the season than the first half. Also, they can start in the defensive zone but still push for offense... whereas I want our 2nd line of Cat-Copp-Mazur/Finnie to mostly be starting in the offensive zone. Maybe this 3rd line even pushes past Cat-Copp-Mazur to become the 2nd line? I'm not making any predictions... It's time to move on from JVR, Perron, Talbot, Compher (dump him to a center-needy team and MAYBE he won't cost us a draft pick to trade him...). If Compher does cost a pick to trade, then just dump his contract and stretch him out. The Wings will just have to learn to play without him on their roster... IMO. But I think the team should ALSO move on from: Rasmussen. Unless they can get him to start hitting again (he hasn't been the same since getting back from injury last year...). But if they don't believe he will get back to what they need, move him. Also: Albert Johansson. Decent defenseman, modicum of talent... But I'm going cheap and trading AlJo. I am also bringing up both Wallinder and Buium. Wallinder may be nothing more than a 7th D'man. Fine. He's still cheap as a 7th D. And on back-to-backs the team can sit Chiarot so he has legs by the end of the season. 2nd pair is Buium-Faulk. I mean, he has to earn it... but I'm putting it on his shoulders to do so. What better way to break in a fast mobile defenseman than pairing him with Justin Faulk? And Chiarot can go where he belongs... to 3rd pair. Matched up with ASP (for offense) or JBD (for defensive purposes). Whoever is on the bench, Wallinder and JBD...? I am perfectly fine with having them come into games to cover an injury or a back-to-back day off (I think both Chiarot and Faulk should get several games off during the season to save their legs... IMO). Cossa is up the entire year as Goalie 1A to Gibson. Maybe he shows only as a weak #2... ok, whatever. It was ridiculous burning Gibson out in March having Talbot starting ONE ****ING GAME the ENTIRE ****ING MONTH (sorry, sorry, excuse the language... but man am I F'ing PISSED at that kind of bull****...! That STEVE Y PUT this team into that situation by riding a SPENT Talbot and REFUSING to bring up Cossa... I am ****ING BURNT over that...!) If Cossa is so damn good he takes over 1A... awesome. If he's only a 1B in 2026-27... fine. Nothing but a #2, I'll take it. But riding a mediocre aged-out #2 goalie and BURNING OUT Gibson...? If he tries that again in 2026-27 I will just ****ing explode. Lastly... I want to find 3 players for the 4th line who are BANGERS, BEARS to play against. Maybe they have some offensive talent, that's lees important to me than being tough-to-play-against even against other teams' 1st lines. Is Appleton a part of that? Maybe. Is Rasmussen, maybe, maybe not... and probably much more like: near-zero chance. I think we can find inexpensive players who are flawed maybe (offensively) but are tough as nails to play against in our defensive zone. I don't have the answers for this. I don't have names... And obviously: it's better if this line can convert heavy defensive pressure into SOME kind of offense... and play outstanding PK... But I don't yet have the recipe for this line. Just my 2 cents.
