  1. Not sure if you were tracking the phenomena of him always being the player of the game no matter what his accomplishments because he had a female fan club (purported to be consisting of low-rent downriver gals). I hope he took advantage of that status and I hope he wore protection.
  2. He was a good athlete for sure. He was never going to be a hitting scientist.
  3. actually 2011 was even better.
  4. Dave didn't hit a home run in 2009 to be sure. The 2012 deadline was much better for him.
  5. Was reading about the end of Brandon Inge's time. I had forgotten he was good-ish until he hit a wall coinciding with him catching mono in 2011. Then he was not good. The career end can be sudden for some.
  6. You almost have to add something at the deadline as a token to your team to show them you mean business. Dunno how this will work this year.
  7. Oof...still, he didn't actively do anything awful...unless you include this from his wikipedia page. That had some mustard on it.
  8. Deadline acquisition for the era 2006-2013 that pissed you off the most? 2009's Aubrey Huff. That jackweasel contributed nothing and was a bad human.
  9. Miggy at 3B and very short Prince at 1B what's not to love?
  10. So, has anyone given any thought to what or if they should try to accumulate something or someone at the trade deadline? The offseason attempt to acquire a RH bat seems to be fixed in the aggregate with Torkelson and Baez sudden quality. We have so many pieces coming back off injury it almost seems like you can't evaluate yet. Maybe they want to acquire more prospects?
  11. I forgot to add Porcello to the 2006-2013 rotation. He was very good but was he good because of his supporting cast or not. I can't tell. Man certainly accumulated a lot of wins at a young age.
  12. Valverde having to throw pitch 30+ in relief quickly burned him out. I liked Phil Coke, and enjoy drunk Phil Coke when they do the reunions, but as a closer that was a temporary fix. Benoit was a good setup man. Zumaya was friggin awesome as a setup man except I attended the one game when he gave up a HR in relief against the Cubs, with all those Cub fans at Comerica...it upset me. Luckily the Tigers came back and won that game. Todd Jones was a heart attack as a closer
  13. The 2006-2013 era had many amazing moments. This team is a notch above on aggression and headfirst sliding which makes them seem like they have more "moxie"
  14. Ausmus is not/NOT part of the evaluation period. Leyland vs Hinch is an interesting test. Maybe you have to evaluate based on his staff in which case give it up to Fetter and company who are very strong compared to Leyland’s coaches.
  15. That's a testable proposition. 3B: Inge or Miggy vs. Jung or Vierling or Baez or McKinstry (advantage 2006-2013 Tigers) 1B: Prince or Miggy or Chris Shelton or Sean Casey vs. Tork or Keith (advantage 2006-2013 Tigers SS: Jhonny Peralta or Carlos Guillen or Jose Iglesias vs Trey Sweeney or Javier Baez (advantage 2006-2013 Tigers) 2B: Placido Polanco or Omar Infante vs. Gleyber Torres or Keith (Maybe a push) Catcher: Pudge or Alex Avila vs. Dingler or Jake Rogers (Advantage 2006-2013 Tigers on the basis of Pudge's historical value) RF: Dirks or Magglio vs. Kerry Carpenter or McKinstry (Push...I'd take Magglio over Carp but not Dirks over him) CF: Austin Jackson or Curtis Granderson vs. Parker Meadows, Javier Baez (advantage 2006-2013 Tigers) LF: Marcus Thames or Delmon Young vs Riley Green (advantage current Tigers) SP: Verlander, Rogers, Bonderman, Robertson, Maroth or Verlander, Scherzer, Fister, Sanchez, Smiley vs Skubal, Olson, Mize, Jobe, Flaherty (I mean either iteration of the 2006-2013 seems much stronger although i do like the quality of current rotation a lot). RP: I think this is one area where the current team clearly beats whatever we put out there as a bullpen in 2006-2013.
  16. I definitely enjoyed the 2006-2013 era. I think building on the basis that Hinch and Harris have is smarter for the Detroit market. I hope they can retain their free agents as well as construct a durable skill-development system.
  17. I was in Mich last week and got a bunch of Detroit-based commercials downloaded on my pods. This is a weird advocacy group trying to leverage Detroit baseball fans (or maybe all baseball fans) in the DC Metro to rally against the evils of lawsuit abuse which they blame for the rising cost of everything. If DC Metro fans are not suffering from oxygen deprivation they know that was not the reason for anything that was happening with the economy before the current economic chaos caused by Trump.
  18. Listening to the Tiger Territory podcase and I can't tell if this is only there because I'm in the DC Metro area or not...but they have a commercial against lawsuit abuse which seems to try to claim that "under Biden everything got so expensive because of lawsuit abuse" What the actual bleep? How is that even remotely a thing? No, under Biden we had free trade and the cost of things was driven by the understanding that we live in a nation which has a foundation of the rule of law. Now we live in the crazy times when Master Blaster in the White House demands you kiss his ring or he'll shut out the lights.
  19. Subaru is the quintessential Boulder vehicle pre-tech arrival. Just granola enough and just not-regular America enough. The LGBGTQx4rti aspect doesn't hurt that image.
  20. Pete Hegseth gonna post some cool emojis on the Signal for this one.
  21. It would be nice of India to hit the PRC bases in Pakistan for us. Probably not going to happen because this is more about hate than anything that would be practical for us.
  22. The hippy freaks are the least obnoxious aspect of Denver metro culture: Besides the above...the other part of Denver metro culture... is the dumb money. I have a buddy who owns a bike shop in Boulder...that hippy dippy culture has faded as the tech bros moved in (I guess Google set up shop) but its still sort of there among the stupid money people who park their Porches across multiple parking lines because their daddy has a lawyer on retainer to fight parking tickets.
  23. Remember when Les Aspin ripped off his shirt and chugged that bottle of JD?
  24. They wouldn't be on the ballot unless they cleared the constitutional hurdle before hand. Now you tell me that Trump can't lose no matter what..i'm not going to accept that.
