  1. Masters of the Air really hit its stride with the "Tear the Fascists Down" song The back story is Crosley is at Oxford after a mission in which almost the entire unit was shot down. The other guy in the scenes depicted is pilot Robert Rosenthal who is at an 8th Air Force "Flak House" whose purpose was to rehabilitate crews that had been through extreme PTSD situations. Rosenthal saved his badly damaged aircraft by a feat of incredible skill and was the only aircraft to return from the 100th. Rosenthal is notable for going on to work the Nurenburg trials.
  2. It made my skin crawl to ask for a Republican ballot this morning. Nikki...you don't deserve this but you are the vessel of my vestigial Republican party self.
  3. Riffing here but... "We decided that 4 0.0 WAR pitchers over 9 innings was just as good as a single 4 WAR pitcher for 9 innings. Also, we are very drunk and some of the 0.0 WAR pitchers we force to pay us a part of their salary so we don't send them to the gulag. Whereas Justin Verlander's wife makes us think of our mothers and we cry."
  4. Sanctions or **** as a tank? “We chose not to use Justin Verlander in this playoff game because he was too expensive “
  5. When did Medvedev go woke?
  6. Hard to actually predict how attractive Trump will be when Biden's money cannon gets fired at him. Trump will get the usual free publicity but it won't compare.
  7. every round that hits the Bismarck eventually helps sink it
  8. I guess Leonard Leo got his money's worth
  9. Trump’s White House Was ‘Awash in Speed’ — and Xanax (yahoo.com) consider the source but it reads a lot like the biographies people wrote about the final days in Hitler's bunker
  10. If everyone put in the same percentage of their income as a whole as the middle class wage earner I might consider some variation to the SS formula. I'm gonna be punished for working in a high wage city? Screw that.
  11. That was the shot. This is the chaser.
  12. Just watched this bizonkers video last night. I really liked Grimes music and forgave her weird relationship with Elon Musk but this stuff she and he are onto lately is so addled, so evil. I mean, could you listen to Heinrich Himmler music if he was an etheral techno pop artist who also prosecuted the holocaust? Oh, how does this related to Vladdie? Elon is promoting people like @jacksonhinkle who is a pro-Russian alt-right twitter feed. Elon and her are into fascism and are definitely pro-Putin. I remember how someone once defended a fascist artist saying that art was fundamentally undemocratic. Btw, Abigail Algo is very attractive.
  13. Its going to be weird voting for her. I think of her as a oily chameleon doing or saying anything that serves at the moment. And yet, ethically she is within the normal range for a politician.
  14. Burn your boats when there is no return to the fold.
  15. Like Russia but even better for the oligarchs and somewhat better for the theocrats.
  16. I think there is a lot of goosing of the numbers to drive up news viewership. Trump's disapproval is very high.
  17. I celebrate the gentlemen who is the puncher and f the receiver of this punch for wearing a Nazi armband in a US city Tear the fascists down
  18. The General is filling a role as the State of Texas' Adjutant General. He's wearing a US military uniform. https://www.snopes.com/news/2024/03/01/trump-speech-general-wore-uniform/ Its an act that the previous Chairman of the JCS General Milley was ashamed of when Trump walked him out to Lafayette Square during the BLM protests. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2021/jun/28/mark-milley-us-general-trump-shouting-match
  19. this does tempt me to vote for her.
  20. Listen to "the Rest of History" podcast re: 1974 in the UK. Holy crap, that country was on its ass. They describe it as a bunch of balding, bespectcled, dandruffy old dudes with slump shoulders just treading water without actually doing the necessary to transition the UK to some actual economic model that could work. Amusingly, they cite the war records of some of the piss poor leaders on both sides and they are genuine dudes in the Don Brown sense.
  21. I like it because it had a symmetry with Red Army devotion to the tank as the king of the battlefield. The old joke about the Soviet tank crew sitting in a West German Mcdonald's asking "I wonder who won the air war"
  22. No, but I get what you are driving at. Its more like the old terms "wets" and "dries" Wets and dries - Wikipedia
  23. its a political term. This is the political forum.
