    Michigan taught ND how to play football. We have the most wins in CFB history. We lag only Penn State and Indiana in the number of living alumni. Our Endowment (not our ***** size) is $17B which puts us in the top 10 nationally. I'd say we have a seat at the table. If we had won a NC in the last 20 years that might be nice. Rather than the apparently, Jim Singleton-driven era of depredations, Rich Rods and Brady Hokes.

    This story is based on some appalling situations where parents were able to abuse their kids because they were protected by the lack of oversight of homeschooled kids. I have colleagues who did the homeschooling thing because they lived in places with terrible schools (e.g., Texas, Florida). Many other potential reasons why people don't want their kids being socialized within the community but...if it also enables this great evil...yeah, lets get some oversight.

    The real issue as far as the well-being of the NATO alliance and our allies in the Western Pacific is that China is developing advanced technology that surpasses our own and using the tried and true Soviet model of just stealing it or just buying to do so. They are in a 360 degree 24/7 technology vacuuming mode. So, why give them any breaks by giving them a base in Michigan to develop their knowledge?

    The US Government is coming up some actual guidelines for dealing with Chinese state owned enterprises with ties to the People’s Liberation Army or the CCP’ security services wrt EV development and joint projects in the US auto industry. Some will be blocked. My cynical side thinks these are probably a set of loopholes unless the people judging what is an SOE actually are guided by the realities on the ground.
