  1. Oh, and while I don't think GR would ever be considered for MLB, I wonder why it's not a AAA market at it's size. It's basically a five-hour ferry ride to Milwaukee. So if Nashville goes MLB, the Brewers would need a new AAA team. Grand Rapids would be PERFECT !
  2. The problem with Indy getting a team is that the White Sox, Reds and Cardinals would freak out about it. The Cubs would quiety pout too. But, a relocation is another story. I think the Rays are staying in FLA, but could move to Orlando and possibly Charlotte NC, but I am pretty sure MLB wants their footprint to remain in the SE. But the Brewers and White Sox have been fussing about a relocation - and while I feel like the Brewers are mostly bluffing, I could see the White Sox moving - based on Chicago letting the Bears get away. A move to Indy would not be too crazy. There are a fair amount of White Sox fans already in the state and the diehards in Chicago could possibly make that trip to see them in Indy. The Indianapolis White Sox sounds horrible and yes, my fictional Indianapolis Ignition isn't great either, it does have a ring to it. I think the other place that should be, but will NEVER be considred for an expansion team is Northern New Jersey. Plenty of money, population and political corruption to make it happen, but the blue bloods in NY, Philly and even Boston would lose their f'ing minds To me the best relocation places are.. 1. Nashville - Shoo-in for a team by 2032. There is a bit of a regional hole too. They're already selling merch ! 2. Northern New Jersey - Checks every box, but it'd be blocked 3. Indianapolis - I think it's a great spot, despite the whining from the Reds and Cardinals 4. Charlotte (or Raleigh/Durahm) - Plenty of money and population in Carolina, but are they into baseball? 5. Portland Regionally it makes sense. A lot of the type of people that would like baseball, but a political nightmare 6. San Jose - Stat nerds unite. Not every baseball fan in the region is a Giants fan and the A's would have been much better off in SJ than in Vegas. That's going to be a flop within 5 years. 7. Vancouver - I think it's a better case than MTL. 8. Montreal - I do think romantically about the innocent days of Jarry Park and the logo that I thought was an "elb" and not an "M", unless it's both. The confusing logo and the weird stadiums were part of the charm, but MTL is the Portland of Canada - a political nigthmare 9. Salt Lake City - I am with you Idaho Bert. I don't get it. But there's a lot of money there, or so I'm told. But the elevation is an issue, and isn't the air even drier than Denver? And the Metro population is only slightly bigger than Grand Rapids. Would you even consider MLB in Grand Rapids? No.
  3. I know I am late with this, but I was in transit from work to home when this happened. If you give me a hard time about it, I will look for you, I WILL find you, and I will stare at you disapprovingly. THE BUS WAS LATE, BUT THE BUS IS HERE
  4. I am starting to understand why Anderson has been pitching in Japan for the last three years. But it sure doesn't seem like any pitchers in Toledo are showing major league stuff.
  5. The pitching is a bit scary. Let's hope the big league guys stay healthy. Max didn't play Wednesday, was that just a day of rest?
  6. So if Montero pitches really well again, do we even want Verlander back in the rotation?
  7. This team, the way it is now, isn't going to scratch and claw for anything. They're the softest Wings team since the 70's. Las night they could have gone out and played for pride, but instead got destroyed because they have no pride. Mo is the only one I care about. They can trade every other player and I wouldn't care, because they don't seem to.
  8. Having fun with A.I. image generator for fictional MLB teams that I will use in OOTP. I present, the eventual expansion team............The Indianapolis Ignition
  9. What a bizarre half-inning. A near walk-off pick off and then a balk. I don't think Kenley's available tomorrow afternoon (if there's even a game).
  10. Now it's a block away, I know what it is.............because I can see it and I can hear it Dont' know if I should say what it is, but it's closing in
  11. It's a little closer now, but I can't quite make out what it is, but it's just two blocks away
  12. I'm looking down the street. Something looks familiar. I can't quite make it out, but it's more than 3 blocks away
  13. At 61? I don't have expensive tastes, 600K would be brilliant. I could move to Ireland
  14. Heck, if I got an MLB rookie salary for one year I'd be set for life.
  15. Fake. They just want you to be scared. The Weatherati
  16. Too young to remember 1968 The 1987 final two weekends. Four in Toronto and then 3 in Detroit. All 7 games were 1-run games. Tigers lost the first 3 in TO. Bill Madlock got death threats for his slide that broke Tony Fernandez' arm. Going into that week against the Orioles it was over. We were asking the O's right fielder for the Blue Jays v. Brewers score because we could not see the big scoreboard. I went to all 3 games that last weekend. They were all one-run games. Friday night Scott Lusader made a game-saving diving catch. Jim Walewander scored from second in the 12th inning to win the seond game. Waited in line all night outside the stadium for tickets to Sunday's game. And you know how that one went. Man, you talk about tense. My heart couldn't take that now. They were spent for the Minnesota series. The last hurrah for that amazing 80's group. It was wonderful. I am not, nor have I ever been a religious person. Tiger Stadium was the closest thing to a Cathedral for me.
  17. No, his weight fluctuated during Stranger Things. I think he gained for the show, but there may have been some digital manipulation too.
