  1. Wow, God, Rum Ball Cookies, Woody Hayes and Charlie Bauman. 1979, man......only thing that didn't happen was a Disco Demolition explosion between the wedding and the reception.
  2. Yet the Redskins sucked back then and the Admirals suck now.
  3. I was being sarcastic. Hey look, there's Dean Blandino on Jerry Jones' bus. No issue there.............
  4. Oh, this makes me so angry. Who the hell is he to determine who should be together? One of the many reasons I am not the least bit religious.
  5. A friend of mine was dating someone who was angry at him for going with us (the boys) to a Michigan vs. Michigan State game when they were both undefeated and ranked in the Top 10, a very rare thing until this year. It was Sweetest Day. Well, it was a Noon game. The game is over by 3:30, he's home by 5 and they can still go out but NO, NO, that day was supposed to be completely dedicated to her. He explained that when he started dating her she knew he had season tickets and went to every home game, a whopping 5 or 6 times a year but her stance was "You're with me now". The relationship didn't last, thank goodness. My girlfriend has gone to games with me. I know she doesn't like football. She's just being nice.
  6. Did they have expressed written consent to do that?
  7. If you compare Live TV audience numbers to anything in the past, it's probably going to drop. There are just so many more options. But here is an issue I have with the Grammys. Glass Animals are up for Best New Artist. This is their third album, The first two may not have charted in the United States, but that band has been around for a decade and their first album came out 7 years ago. Zero Credibility.
  8. Oh, then he and some of the other players will start caterwauling about collusion. He is the best SS on the market but I think any team that signs him to 10/350 is going to regret that deal and in the not too distant future. He's not a superstar. Neither is Seager and Neither is Semien. It will be really funny to see the Rangers and Mets not make the playoffs next year (unless they get really stupid and invite 8 teams in).
  9. Basically we're 4 weeks from the start of Spring Training and nobody's really talking Do you feel less optimistic?
  10. What happened in that playoff game? I don't remember.
  11. Because there was no rookie salary cap and all 3 guys were top 2 picks and super expensive.
  12. Vrana coming back soon and Jonathan Berggren has really started clicking in GR. More of a passer than scorer. He has at least one point in 13 of his last 16 games.
  13. Yep...........Harbaugh would probably only go to the NFL if he had player personnel control. The next 48 hours will be very interesting.
  14. 0-0, He hit the first pitch.
  15. B-Ref made it so easy. I figured it out in less than 3 minutes (mainly because Deano only played one season as Tiger at Tiger Stadium). But not only looking up the box score but then the play by play too. It's amazing. By the way, as recently as 2019 I saw someone walking around with a Tiger T-shirt that said "Palmer 16" on it. He never wore that since they retired Newhouser's 16 after they signed Palmer but before the season started, so it's kind of a rare thing. Like finding a Rick Mahorn Timberwolves t-shirt. I remember seeing it 2 days after the Pistons lost him in the expansion draft, it was t-shirt with a caricature of Mahorn with "Big Bad Wolf" on it. I was too bitter to buy it, but he never played for them. It could be sort of valuable today, especially if you could get him to sign it.
  16. I found this 8 x 11 photo I took with my first digital camera (It was huge and used discs). I wondered when it was. Thanks to Baseball Reference I was able to figure it out - very quickly. The only season Dean Palmer played for the Tigers while they were at Tiger Stadium was 1999. I went and looked at all the Box Scores from night games when the Indians were in town and only one had the corresponding inning-by-inning run count indicated on the LF scoreboard. This was September 23, 1999. Dean Palmer batting against Charles Nagy in the 3rd inning. Tony Clark was on first base. Dean lined out to RF. The Tigers won that game 7-5. They had only 4 more games at The Corner and I went to all of them. Man, I love Baseball Reference.
  17. Deserve's got nothing to do with it
  18. Great white hope? Down to one black head coach in the league and all these black coordinators getting Rooney Rule interviews and Kellen Moore is still getting hype. I don't think any coaches should be interviewed until after the Super Bowl is over. It should be a rule. I think it has prevented some really good coordinators from getting a shot - because they are too busy with their own teams in the playoffs.............they shouldn't be penalized for that. There is no recruitment or national signing day early Feb. Let it all play out. You could make the argument that the one successful Belichick tree guy was Brian Flores (Bill O'Brien was alright until he became a GM). Flores was abrasive. So what, he did make Miami better - and fairly quickly. I hope he gets another shot somewhere like Minnesota, Chicago or Denver or another team that isn't at rock bottom.
  19. Basking in the afterglow of Cowboy's fans delicious tears. I love the fact that they are losing their minds over getting screwed by the refs. Yes, it was on Dak because he should know the official has to place the ball, but the official did move it back and forth for an extra second, the extra second that cost them. I love it. I love it so much. I DRINK YOUR TEARS, I DRINK YOUR TEARS LIKE WINE !
  20. I bought a pair of McCartney tickets in 2011 and I think the total was $78, but it was summer and the Comerica Park Box Office was open and it's not far from where I work so I bough them in person. About 5 years ago, bought a pair of Iggy Pop tickets............$88 total. My girlfriend's sister bought tickets online in the same row for her and her husband. Fees were $22 - PER TICKET. So for the same row they paid $132. Insane.
  21. By the way, if you listen to 97.1, the afternoon phone guy, Kenny Kot - He is pretty reliable on hockey over/unders..........I'm basically to just following his lead and doing really well with that.
  22. I did put a small wager on the Steelers - just in case, but the parlay pays quite a bit more and I think at 35-7 with Old Dirty Bastard at QB for Pittsburgh, I think we get the win. Not a big bet, but I keep betting 10 here or 20 there and I'm now betting with their money.
