They also haven't had a complete lineup for awhile. They don't have much depth, so when stars like Vrana, Bertuzzi and Larkin miss time it really hurts them. -

Motor City Sonics replied to slothfacekilla's topic in Detroit Red Wings
The team seems to be overachieving this season. By a lot of accounts they are ahead of schedule. I don't think Blashill's a problem because I don't thin there is a problem, the team is doing alright, this offseason is going to be huge, but I don't see where there needs to be any kind of blame. -
Just for fun.........Make your picks. Every right guess gets 1 point. Predicting the Conference Champions 5 points, Predicting the Super Bowl winner 10 points................. Tie Breaker would be the point total from the Super Bowl. The winner gets something similar to respect, but not genuine. I'll start ! AMERICAN FOOTBALL CONFERENCE (2) Kansas City over (7) Pittsburgh Big Ben is a creep. Goodbye (3) Buffalo over (6) New England Buffalo got hot at the right time (4) Cincinnati over (5) Las Vegas West coast team travelling to cold Cincinnati (1) Tennessee over (4) Cincinnati Tennessee will grind it out (3) Buffalo over (2) Kansas City KC runs out of gas (1) Tennessee over (3) Buffalo Tennessee is a complete team with a great coach NATIONAL FOOTBALL CONFERENCE (2) Tampa Bay over (7) Philadelphia Philly showed who they are vs. Dallas (6) San Francisco over (3) Dallas Another Dallas playoff choke (4) LA rams over (5) Arizona Stafford gets the playoff win (6) San Francisco over (1) Green Bay Only because I hate Aaron 'The Martyr' Rodgers (4) LA Rams over (2) Tampa Bay Does Tampa Bay has any receivers? (6) San Francisco over (4) LA Rams I just can't pick Stafford to go to the Super Bowl and the 49ers were in the Super Bowl just 2 years ago, injuries derailed them a bit. SUPER BOWL Tennessee 31, San Francisco 19

I can understand call the agent for Evander Kane, but WHY WOULD YOU TELL PEOPLE THAT? Horrible human being, and he might be in jail soon. -

I was coming here to bitch about the fact that Ken Holland reached out to Evander Kane's agent. You want to poison your young stars with Evander Kane? I can't imagine how bad the Wings would be if they still had Holland here. We'd have absolutely no hope right now. NO future. -

Mucinex does okay at clearing sinuses. Vapo Rub and Vapo Steam don't do much (maybe psychologically)...I love the smell of Vicks Vapo Rub and use it on dry skin (elbows, feet). But NOTHING is better at clearing sinuses, at least for 5 minutes than this... -

Negative for the 'rona. Then what is this? A nasty cold? Feels like cement in my head and someone took a cheese grater to my throat. -
I don't think Brian Flores will be on the beach for long. There are some other openings coming. I think Pete Carroll will retire in Seattle. I thin Joe Judge will be out once the new GM comes in (I can't believe he is still employed at 8:34 this Monday). I think Flores could be up for one of those jobs. If the Raiders don't extend their coach, they are insane. Just for Snits & Giggles, Coaching Carousel Predictions CHICAGO - At one time I would have guessed Ryan Day, but after the disaster of Urban Meyer, they will probably stay away from a college coach going to the NFL. So I will guess Todd Bowles, which feels like a very Bears hiring to me. DENVER - Eric Beineimy - He finally gets his shot in the state where he went to college. Will he work well with Aaron Rodgers? JACKSONVILLE - Byron Leftwich - Seems like a great story. I think the Anti-Urban, Jim Caldwell, would be a better fit here. MIAMI - Brian Daboll - He knows the division and knows the team owner already MINNESOTA - Brian Flores - Won't be on the beach for long (and shouldn't be) NY GIANTS - Doug Pederson - Bad ending in Philly shouldn't stain him forever. The Giants won't spend big on a head coach. If not him it will be someone like Leslie Frazier, Jim Caldwell or Josh McDaniels - someone who has been a head coach before. I guess it depends on who the GM is. SEATTLE - If Pete Carroll 'retires', I think it's Kellen Moore. Hot name, Home state. Team going into a full rebuild when Russ leaves... Starting QBs in 2022 Buffalo - Josh Allen Miami - Tua New England - Mac Jones NY Jets - Zach Wilson Baltimore - Lamar Jackson Cincinnati - Joe Burrow Cleveland - Baker Mayfield (they draft Desmond Ridder) Pittsburgh - Russell Wilson Indianapolis - Carson Wentz (they get Teddy Bridgewater as backup) Houston - Davis Mills Jacksonville - Trevor Lawrence Tennessee - Ryan Tannehill Denver - Aaron Rodgers Kansas City - Patrick Mahomes Las Vegas - Derek Carr Los Angeles - Justin Herbert Dallas - Dak Prescott NY Giants - Matt Coral Philadelphia - Jalen Hurts Washington - Taylor Heinicke (they draft Sam Howell) Chicago - Justin Fields Detroit - Jared Goff (Ryan Fitzpatrick or Kyle Allen is the backup) Green Bay - Jimmy Garoppolo Minnesota - Kirk Cousins Atlanta - Matt Ryan (they will draft Malik Willis) Carolina - Kenny Pickett (Sam Darnold) New Orleans - Taysom Hill Tampa Bay - Tom Brady Arizona -Kyler Murray Los Angeles - Matthew Stafford San Francisco - Trey Lance Seattle - Jameis Winston (they draft Carson Strong)

Coronavirus: Already In a Neighborhood Near You

......and don't forget Obama's Tornado Machine. I have been mildly sick since Friday. Runny nose, lots of coughing (dry, nothing comes up) and my throat is raw, not really sore, but raw from all the coughing and throat clearing. Haven't been able to sleep well the last few days. I don't feel that bad, but I am very tired and annoyed. I went to a facility to get a test today. It was on the east side of Detroit because it was the only place I could get a same-day. Scheduled for 12:30, but I knew I would not be seen by 12:30, and yes there was a line. About 15 ahead of me. It took awhile but everyone kind of realized that it would, they expected it, but then..........you know who showed up, right......KAREN ! KAREN has an appointment for 1pm (it was 1:05) and Karen didn't think she should have to wait in line. EVERYONE had a timed appointment. But no, she started making demands that she is seen next. Everyone just kind of rolled their eyes, but I can tell you this, there is no way she was jumping the queue today. The aggravating part is her 10 minutes of Karening slowed everything down, but the funny part is that in the time she stood there doing her thing about 10 or 12 people came in and got in line......go to the back of the line........LOL. She was still there when I left about 1:45, about 10-15 people ahead of her. Everyone was chill about. it.........except her. -
THE MICHIGAN PANTHERS ARE BACK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Motor City Sonics replied to Motor City Sonics's topic in Detroit Lions
What (sort of) worked for the USFL was the fact that they took star players out of college and paid them big money. No other secondary league has been able to do that and the new USFL won't be able to do that. The only way a subleague really works is if it's a minor league for the NFL and the NFL is allowed to put a certain number of guys in the league to get them live game experience. The only thing these guys are playing for is maybe they catch some NFL team GM's eye. The only possible saving grace for it is that there is no travel expense involved. So they'll have 8 teams, 4 games a week. I am guessing that means 2 days of doubleheaders in the same stadium. Are they going to give live fans 2 games for 1 ticket or are they doing the day/night doubleheader format? I don't think they'll make it through the whole first season. I am getting a new Michigan Panthers t-shirt though. -

There is a book called Football For A Buck. Back when my dog was a few years younger and could go on long walks, I listened to the audio version. You have to get over the early part where its clear the narrator was not a sports person when he describes team records of 3 to 1 instead of 3 and 1, but that gets corrected later in the book (couldn't have him edit in the right way?). Entertaining listen, a very detailed account of the many personalities and hucksters involved in the might USFL. https://www.amazon.com/Football-for-Buck-Jeff-Pearlman-audiobook/dp/B07GBCFTFC -

LOCKOUT '22: When will we see baseball again?
Motor City Sonics replied to Motor City Sonics's topic in Detroit Tigers
1 - Baseball games have been too expensive to attend for families to go on a regular basis (5 or more games a year). Then kids don't grow up with baseball, and the sentimental bond is not formed. 2 - There are far too many other options for entertainment all year 'round and the younger people today would rather watch other people play video games than real athletes play baseball. 3 - Baseball has not promoted it's stars properly. Regular people would not recognize Mike Trout or Aaron Judge or Jacob deGrom. Back in the day even my mom knew who Reggie Jackson was. She knew who Nolan Ryan was. 4 - Financial Competitive imbalance. Seems like for long stretches it's the same 6-8 teams that are at the top and most of the rest of the league really has no shot. And even some teams who are consistently good like Tampa Bay and Oakland keep trading star players away as soon as they might be due more money, so they never really get over the hump and fans have a harder time bonding with a star player when they know every one of them is leaving. Baseball feels like the Big 6 and the little 24. 5 - Games are too slow. Part of it is sabermetrics and too many pitcher switches, but of it is the need to cram more breaks into the game to get more ads into the broadcast. Baseball has always been slow, but not like this. 6 - Little league baseball has gotten too corporate with travel teams. Black kids have virtually no connection to baseball anymore and you see the MLB numbers of black players dropping fast. Kids like many of us, who weren't very good at it, could still play on a little league team. Well now it feels like over the age of about 11 that if you are not good enough to be on a travel team, then you don't play at all. Again, no sentimental bond is formed. 7 - Home Run or Strike Out. When I was a kid you drew a chalk box against the school wall and played with a tennis ball...........You either missed it or hit it over the fence. That's what baseball is feeling like now. It's boring. 8 - Fire Ausmus.- 1,851 replies

And when you take the corruption out of it, it usually runs a lot better than we're led to believe. All these anti government people don't seem to have a problem with having roads to drive on, clean water to drink (usually), city services that they take for granted...........all things that, in most communities, run pretty well. It usually only really goes bad when some greedy asshole starts diverting things. Plus all these anti-Socialists probably didn't send back their stimulus checks.
