  1. I wouldnt take any, I was a big Rattler fan coming into the season cause I expected him to build off his strong finish to the season last year but that really hasn't been the case.

I say build up the defense and find a playmaker or two on offense(between the draft and FA) and then take a qb in 2023.

I want the QB to be in the best situation as possible coming in so he can be successful from day 1. I don't want him looking like most of the rookie QBs this year, all you do in that situation is waste a year or 2 of their rookie deals, potentially kill their confidence, risk them getting injured or risk misevaluating them like it looks like the Jets did with Darnold. I don't want any of those problems.

Just ride it out with Goff the next 2 years,  take your lumps and take your qb of the future in 2023. I have no idea what the class is suppose to look like that year but hopefully for our sake there's a couple good ones.

  2. I can't say I agree with calling that timeout before the 4th down play unless it was needed for an injured player. We had the Ravens all out of sorts and that timeout just allowed them to regroup and pick the exact play they wanted. Plus we chose to rush 3 after getting pressure on him most of the day.

  3. Unless they sign some stop gap 1st baseman like a Cron, Rizzo etc.(Don't expect them to just saying) then there really isn't any reason that Tork shouldn't be here next year from the start. If he isn't then that will definitely put out the vibe that they are being cheap and delaying his clock cause from a performance standpoint you can't make an argument that he shouldn't be on the team.

We are here...it was an amazing robbery

There seems to have been alot of great robbery catches at Copa this year but the one that really sticks out is the dude from the Mariners who robbed Paredes I think of a walkoff, not only did he rob him he also doubled up the guy at 1st. That was a helluva play.

  5. I for one think Verlander is going to be of value in 2022 and would love to sign him. He isn't going to be the Verlander of old but I think he is still gonna be a solid mid rotation guy at worst. Yeah he's coming off TJ and there really isn't much of a precedent for guys his age coming off of TJ but in general the better you are pre TJ the better you seem to respond post TJ for obvious reasons.

Chris Sale for example is dominating in his TJ return and he's only 13 months removed from surgery where as Verlander will be 19 months by the time 2022 starts. Yeah Sale is 5 years younger but Verlander isn't your typical 38 year old. It's not like he was throwing 91 or 92 pre surgery, he was still regularly touching 99 and sitting mid 90s, so even if he takes a hit velo wise he will still be better than average and ditto for his spin numbers.

Bottom line I'm not going to bet against him and if we could get him on a 3 year deal I would be all over it cause I think he will still provide value and have the upside of being really good.

  6. If Ragnow and Hock were 30 then sure deal them but that's not the case, even if it takes us 4 years to be competitive they would still be young enough to potentially still be among the best at their positions.

Now the one guy I would explore trading is Decker just cause teams pay a premium for top LTs and we don't know how he will respond when moved to presumably RT. I wouldnt just give him away though but if a team offers me a 1st and a couple mid round picks Id be hard pressed to say no.

  7. Looking at various teams big league and prospect depth charts I see the Reds seem to have some depth at SS. They have a couple guys that are at double A or higher with 50+grades plus their most recent 1st round pick Matt Mclain who supposedly is pretty advanced so they could probably count on him by 2023.  Perhaps we could try to swing a deal with them.

  8. I have no idea what the draft looks like next year other than Green but hopefully for our sake it shakes out like how it did this year.

Some of the perceived top guys(House,Rocker,Mclain Watson to name a few) managed to fall to about where we are likely to pick so if we're lucky we can still get a premium guy despite picking outside the top 10.

  9. Lamar Jackson missed todays practice after complaining yesterday his hip was bothering him from flipping in the end zone Sunday.

The team said he was sick and that's why he missed but I wouldn't be surprised if it was indeed his hip and they are just covering it so Lamar doesn't get heat.

Anyway just figured I post that since we play the Ravens on Sunday and it looks like there is atleast a chance Lamar won't be 100%. Of course with that said him at 75% could probably still carve up this defense.

  10. Speaking of Cade I find it funny how quickly the narrative changes after we get him. All year all we heard was how he was a borderline generational talent and at the very least one of the top 3 or 4 guys to come into the NBA the past 10 years. Now all the sudden of no fault of his own he has turned into just another early draft pick.

Case and point on ESPN the other day they actually asked who would you take between Cade and Anthony Edwards and one of the talking heads picked Edwards. A year ago people said Edwards was one of the weaker number 1 picks in recent memory, then he goes out and has a so so rookie season and now people are picking him over the "cant miss prospect" in Cade? What changed people's perception other than him becoming a Piston?

  11. Just an FYI we are currently projected to pick 13th in the draft. Its looking like barring a collapse by us or a team behind us like the Padres, Phillies and Reds(each have 4 less losses than us) we will be picking between 11th or 14th.

After 4 straight years of top 5 picks this is gonna feel a little strange.

  12. I dont think the offense is far away and I think they can win with Goff at the helm. They obviously need a WR or two but i think if that get that coupled with Decker shoring up the line(assuming he transitions well to RT and I think you can have a solid offense.

I dont think it would be some high octane big play type offense but the type that ground and pounds with the run game and use that to set up play action and open up the middle of the field.

The problem though is that the offense just doesnt have much margin for error cause the defense is atrocious. I think in and given game we may be lucky to force a punt or turnover 4 or 5 times at most so the offense either has to score TDs every chance they can or at worst have long drives that chew up a lot of clock.

And just for the record Im not married to Goff, if a guy comes along in the next couple drafts that looks like the real deal I wouldn't be opposed to drafting him,  I just don't think we should be all in on QB just cause we feel we need to get one for the future and end up with a Blaine Gabbert, Josh Rosen or Daniel Jones.

  13. Keith Law picked his minor league awards and he gave player of the year to Witt followed by Adley. After them to be had a "other players of notes" portion and Greene was the first guy listed.

He was pretty complimentary of him saying that his defense in center is better than he expected and said he could see him staying there atleast for the next few seasons. Said you could make the case he was better offensively than Witt and Adley but he picked them cause of their position and added defensive value.

Unless I missed it I didn't see anything on Tork.

  14. Yeah I dont get all the Romo love,I mean he isn't terrible but I don't think he is some game changing analyst like people treat him as and what he is being paid.

Also I find it annoying how often now he tries to tell you exactly what the team is going to do when they are lined up just cause people on social media thought he was the smartest guy in the world the first game he did it. Now it's like he goes out of his way to do it and I find it annoying.

If you want to break a play down post play that's great but I don't need you to tell me where each receiver is going and where the QB intends to throw presnap just to prove to people that you can read playbooks.

  15. They are 35-33 against teams in the playoffs or playoff races, the teams that I constitute as being in the race among teams we faced are those top 4 AL East teams, top 3 AL West teams and the Cardinals and Reds. I would venture to say not many teams have a winning record against all those teams.

  16. I hate to play what if but boy what if we got off to a 14-18 start instead of the disastrous 9-23 one? Our record would be flipped at 78-73 and assuming a couple of those extra wins came at the White Sox expense we'd only be 5 back now.

How short/ inexpensive of a contract does Story get this year?

    He had a bad year.

But what if that means we could get him for 2 or 3 years? Let's say 3/$60?

I would do that on the same basis as having Schoop for the next 2 years...

A pretty good stopgap that makes the young kids actually "push" the starter out of their job, without just handing a spot to them.

If we could get Story for 3/60 or even 3/75 then I would gladly take him.  I just dont want to commit 8 years or 200million to him.
