Studies have been done to show that food addiction and binge eating disorders are real. It's a physical, chemical, and emotional reaction to food. Certains foods such as ones high in sugar trigger the same receptors of the brain as alcohol and drugs. You can't just abstain from eating like you can from drinking and doing drugs. To just minimize it as essentially people are lazy is just pure ignorance. On top of that, people cannot just hide food addiction like you can alcoholism or being a drug addict.
