Brad Holmes quote was "If our record was reversed and it made sense for us, then we would have still done it." That doesn't come off to me as he insisted he would have made he trade if records were reversed.
I also don't think he was a focal point of this offense. This doesn't appear to be TE heavy offense. I think he will put up better numbers in Minnesota. His blocking left a lot to be desired since that was one of the selling points coming out of college.
Since Dobbs, every election has gone the Democrats way. I'm also not convinced that Republicans are going to show up without Trump on the ballot. We saw that in 2018 and the Georgia runoffs.
I'm fine with the decision to trade Hockenson. The writing was on the wall when they came out of the bye with a contract extension for the punter and not Hockenson. I would have expected a better return but am reminded the Bears got a 2nd and 5th for Roquan and traded a 2nd for Claypool so it seems fair. I think the extra cap space needs to be considered. Lions now have 5 picks in the top 65 and can clear a lot of cap space this year.
The Lions drafted Mitchell coming off an injury so I think they are going to try to work him up to be TE1 by next year. Brock Wright will be TE1 for the rest of this year.
Dave has never seen a QB he didn't want to draft. He was calling for the Lions to draft a QB for years with Stafford. I wouldn't be shocked if he was calling for the Lions to trade up to draft Goff.
I originally read it as the Lions getting a 2nd and 3 4ths and no picks going from the Lions. I find this trade underwhelming. I don't think the Lions got fleeced but meh.
