The Lions didn't usher Calvin or Barry out the door. The Lions wanted both players to play. One announced his retirement early in the offseason, the other broke off communication, was a no show, and didn't even have the decency to tell the team he quit. Stafford asked for a trade and probably still would have played for the team had they refused the trade. I'm not sure what the damning indictment is of the Lions that two players up and quit unexpectedly and the third asked to be traded and his request was granted.
