  1. I never said anything like that. I said there recent history of top 5 picks has been good. Honest question, why you even follow the team? Not only do you seem miserable following the team, but you want others to be just as miserable as you.
  2. The article is dated September 15th so it appears he did after he walked away. Either way, he signed the extension after spending 8 seasons with the Lions. He could have sought a new team at that time instead of signing the extension.
  3. Plus if you draft a WR with the Rams pick, plus development from St Brown and Swift, you insert the rookie QB into a better situation and give them a fighting chance. I'm also not opposed with sticking with Goff past next season if they have to.
  4. It's unfortunate your ignore list didn't transfer over from the previous forum.
  5. So now joking about how the Lions have had great players retire early makes me a Lions slappy?
  6. I can see it now. Sewell is going to develop into one of the best LT ever, he'll sign the largest contract ever given to an offensive lineman, and then he'll retire at age 30 and fight with the Lions for his signing bonus while people blame the Lions for ruining his hall of fame career with his own personal choices.
  7. Calvin Johnson wants the Lions to do something that is currently against NFL rules and he's salty they cannot and won't do it. I really don't think it has any impact on the Lions attracting or retaining free agents. The Lions were able to sign Ragnow and Okwara to extensions and probably could have signed Golladay if they really wanted him.
  8. Please consdier (sic) the words actually written in your responses: "Barry Sanders walked away and not because the Lions forced him into retirement or ruined his career." Barry Sanders made the choice to leave. The Lions did not force him out. If he thinks his career is unfulfilled and wanted to play longer, he should have A) never signed the extension with the Lions in the first place, B) honored his contract and continue to play for the Lions, or C) request a trade from the Lions. I have no idea if he actually did request a trade or if Ross would have granted it.
  9. Right and that's because Barry Sanders walked away and not because the Lions forced him into retirement or ruined his career. He walked away only 2 years after signing a 6 year contract and he signed that contract with Bobby Ross so he can't even blame Ross.
  10. Barry Sanders chose to sign a long term extension with the Lions. He chose to walk away from setting the all time rushing record. Barry Sanders is still regarded as one of the greatest running backs of all time so I would hardly say his career was ruined. Andrew Luck chose to retire early. Did the Colts ruin his career?
  11. In the past 50 years, the Lions have only drafted 4 QBs in the 1st round. I expected it to be more.
  12. At this point in time last year, did anyone expect Trey Lance would be drafted 3rd overall? At the same time, I don't think many expected Fields to slide. If the Lions draft a QB, I feel it will be a trade up from the Rams pick.
  13. I stated my position over 15 hours ago. It's a shame you didn't read it, accused me of being contrarian and defending the Lions no matter what, and continued a conversation you complain is still going. It was over and done with and you come along and lecture me on my posts. I'm dumbfounded that the position of Stafford, Johnson, and Suh being great picks, and good players who had great careers is contrarian.
  14. My position is that Stafford, Johnson and Suh were great picks and their careers weren't ruined. Are you taking a different position? Do you think the Lions shouldn't have drafted them? Do you think the Lions forced them at gun point (Stafford and Johnson) to sign contract extensions? Were there different players the Lions should have drafted? It was over and done with. You came along and revived it and are bitching about it still going.
  15. And yet I hadn't posted about it in over 15 hours until you came along and revived it. Then, you made an accusation that people were defending the Lions no matter what which is simply not true.
  16. So you'll do a drive by saying some will defend the Lions no matter what, which is what nobody here is doing, and not actually answer the question at hand.
  17. Near minimum wage employees in the US with health care? Surely you jest.
  18. In what way was Stafford, Johnson and Suh's career ruined?
  19. I got my booster and flu shot yesterday. Other than being slammed against the car door due to the magnetic pull, I'm doing pretty well.
  20. Brady currently makes more than Stafford and when Brady signed his extension back in 2010, it made him the highest paid player in the NFL at the time. It wasn't till late in his career when he started taking less and even then he was still among the highest paid.
  21. So are the 14 players who signed larger contracts after Stafford going to be remembered for their contract? Tom Brady is on pace to earn over $300 million. He hasn't exactly volunteered his services either.
  22. If Stafford wins a Super Bowl he is a no doubt about it hall of famer. Football is weird in that it judges QBs more on team success vs baseball which is a pure numbers game. Eli Manning was a worse QB than all 3 of them but will probably have an easier path to the hall of fame.
