  1. I have a feeling the Rooney rule may have gotten Brad Holmes hired. He wasn't someone on the radar when the search began. All reports indicate that he impressed in the interview. Was he simply brought in as a Rooney rule interview?
  2. Matt Nagy didn't have Patrick Mahomes, at least as the starting QB, and the Andy Reid head coaching tree is not bad. Doug Pederson and John Harbaugh came from that tree and won Super Bowls. I wouldn't be terribly upset if Nagy was hired as offensive coordinator.
  3. Especially after the black head coach they wanted to hire turned them down.
  4. It seems like there is a difference between one accusation where charges were dropped vs multiple run ins with the law and convictions and being involved in a alcohol, drug and sex scandal while a coach at Colorado.
  5. Eric Bieniemy has been arrested and convicted for assault, pleaded no contest to shoving a firefighter, arrested for assaulted a female parking attendant and banned by the University of Colorado for a year, arrested for DUI and had numerous driver's license suspensions, and was linked to using prostitutes to recruit players to Colorado. The guy is just being held to such high standards.
  6. It's interesting the same people outraged that Bienemy hasn't been hired are the same ones who would be outraged if a white coach had that sort of criminal history. They are also the same people who wanted to cancel Chauncey Billups because of an allegation from 1997 in favor of a white woman.
  7. I was led to believe ISIS was in Mexico crossing our border at will? I'm thinking this is fake news.
  8. My theory has to do with the fact that the league is 70% black. Take someone like Sean McVay. He was a player in college but had no future in the NFL. He immediately went into coaching after graduation and worked his way into an offensive coordinator position before becoming a head coach. I'm willing to bet a good majority of coordinators never played in the NFL or played very sparingly like Jason Garrett who was just a backup and probably groomed to be a future coach.
  9. Just go with Ben Johnson. You had a good thing going with Goff last year, lets see if it continues into this year. Remember, Stafford had a big year in 2011 and then regressed. He was around the same age as Goff when the Lions promoted Jim Bob Cooter and Stafford elevated his game and became a more accurate passer. I also think there is something to continuity in coaching. Lets see if Campbell and the Lions can develop coaching talent.
  10. Imagine if a white coach got hired with that rap sheet.
  11. Caldwell is 67. Does a team with a young QB such as Jacksonville or Chicago see him as a long term option? Do the Saints who are staring down a lengthy rebuild see him as someone who can see through that rebuild? You aren't going to sign him to a 6 year deal like the Lions did with Campbell.
  12. It appears that Flores also mentioned the Lions. Apparently any team who ever fired a black coach is a racist organization. Doesn't matter that two of the last three GMs of the Lions have been black (three of the last four if you include Sheldon White). The Lions also hired two black coordinators, black assistant coach, black assistant GM, but none of that matters.
  13. Minnesota's black GM didn't hire a black coach.
  14. Jim Caldwell has gotten two jobs. How many white coaches get three shots in the NFL? Usually to get a third shot you should have a Super Bowl ring. Speaking of which, there doesn't seem to be a lot of buzz around Doug Pederson.
  15. I'm surprised NFL teams don't contact him every year for jobs. I don't care what he has done at Michigan, he's got the receipts in the NFL.
  16. The Beto campaign just need to use the old Motel 6 slogan we'll keep the light on.
  17. Re-districting has put me in a district that John James is running for and he will most likely win. That's a bummer.
  18. What good did your vote for Michelle Obama do? What exactly did you accomplish or prove?
  19. Jim Harbaugh was fired after one 8-8 season after making three straight NFC Championship games and a Super Bowl. Doug Pederson won a Super Bowl and made the playoffs twice afterwards and got fired 3 years removed from the Super Bowl and has not gotten a job. On the other hand, Josh McDaniels came to Denver and drove out his young QB and star WR and crashed and burned. He was given another opportunity and reneged on the Colts and was still given yet another opportunity. I have no idea what there is to like about that guy.
  20. I don't believe interviewing the same candidate twice counts. I believe the rule is interviewing at least two different candidates.
  21. Speaking of black coaches not getting a fair shake, Hue Jackson still kept his job after going 1-31.
