  1. Add me to this list.  I always liked baseball but when at about age 14 I really started to appreciate all the numbers, it took things to a whole new level.

For the others like that, if you haven't already, I'd recommend Alan Schwarz's book The Numbers Game, which provides a sort of history of baseball statistics.  It came out in like 2005 so it might be a little dated now, but it was a really good read.

Help me out here, anyone. I’m pretty sure I recall that Hinch took a bat to a couple of video monitors in either the tunnel or in the locker room during a game at one point during the season the team was stealing signs electronically. Perhaps after the game, seriously not sure? He was upset that the cheating thing was going on, and knew about, but never stopped it, or spoke up.
Does this ring a bell for anybody here? I seem to recall this information being put out after the story broke on the whole ordeal.

yes i recall hearing that, too.  my recollection is that he destroyed the monitors to prevent the sign stealing, at least in that instance

He comes from the Chicago…. Blackhawks.

This suggests to me that GM is not going to be a baseball-focused position.  Harris will retain responsibility for all that stuff I presume.

EDIT: Time with the Cubs shows that perhaps I was too hasty . . .

  4. Going to the closing game is a big priority for me.  It is the last chance to see the team before the days get short, the weather gets gold, and the daily rhythm of games is gone.  Plus, being at the last Tigers home game, I've seen some cool stuff.  Shane Halter play nine positions, the White Sox close out the division in 2005 (not that cool for us but kind of a cool event), 2014 clincher, and others.  Everybody loves opening day but I think closing day is better.
