Looking into the future, I have purchased tickets for game two of the Houston/Detroit series on August 26th.

My youngest son, son in law and my seven year old grandson and I will be making our first trip to Comerica Park.

I haven't been to Detroit since the last game I went to at Tigers Stadium. I would imagine that Detroit has changed a lot since then.

Since we have an eight hour drive to get there, lodging will be important to secure for two nights.

I'm hoping that one of you fellow Tigers fans can recommend a place to stay close to the stadium.

Any and all suggestions will be appreciated.

There are a ton of great places to stay downtown.  If you want a standard hotel close to the park, the Hilton Garden is probably your best bet.  If you want something more unique (and are prepared to pay for it), try the Siren, Element, or Aloft, all cool places, all not more than a couple blocks from the park.

Back to back days getting all of them, considering it didn't have the Tigers like yesterday I'm more impressed with myself. Luckily though 2 of the categories were HOFers and .300 seasons which definitely made things easier.

I tried typing freddie freeman, ended up with freddy fermin, and blew it

  3. I just played my first one.  I guess I misunderstood in thinking that everyone I identified needed to be a guy with 200 hits and not just somebody that played for both the Yankees and Astros, for example.  Ended up with 7/9 and a rarity score of 333.  I don't know what any of that means.

So the Tigers could have not offered him arbitration and then just signed him for less money? I thought once we declined, we weren't allowed to negotiate with him?

if they offer him arbitration, they are in the arb process.  in the process, there will be either an agreement between the player and team, or a binding arb decision.  If they decline arb, which they did, the player becomes a free agent.  they could negotiate, but the player is a free agent and can make his own decisions, and he may prefer to be elsewhere.

OBP is exceptionally misleading in the complex leagues, particularly the DSL, because the caliber of pitching is so wildly variable. Frankly, stats of any kind at that level of affiliated ball are borderline meaningless.

Micro, do you guys anticipate going back to doing the podcast?
