I thought I was being slick going with Jerome Walton

Well, I followed that up with a couple of stinkers. 8/9 last two days. I thought for sure mark Langston had a 200+ strikeout year for the Expos, but no. I really try hard not to go with " obvious " answers in that situation like Pedro Martinez, but sometimes it bites me.
While my consant pouring over baseball cards, the sporting news and baseball digest in the late 70s and early 80s has served me very well, I do have to question why all that information is still in hy head 40 years later. If I had to fill out the grids using players from 2000+ I would probably get one or two a day.
I made that same mistake with Mark Langston

@immaculategrid x @baseball_refI sucked today. How is it that Hank Aaron never won a silver slugger? Did it not exist back then?

Rats, 8 out of 9. Jim Bibby was only a 19 game winner.
i feel like i got lucky with fergie jenkins in that spot. i couldn't think of rick helling's name, or the name of the other guy that texas had during the same era as helling who was pretty good

Super sad to hear. Jim really grew on me as a broadcaster.

Is it the lack of the Connecticut team that is causing this?

I think you and I both know that previous years performance tends to weigh heavily at the negotiating table.
The term "contract year" exists for a reason, after all.
I digress, but back in the day there used to be an NFL promo on Fox Sports with Terrell Owens, and the narrator said something like, 'follow Terrell Owens on Fox in his most lucrative adventure yet: contract year!' I thought that was hilarious.
Carry on about Jeimer, now

Bo Bichette injured in Toronto. And the Jays need to get more RH. I wonder if they'd have any interest in a RH SS who seems to play a lot better under the bright lights than here with the dim prospects

Verlander has a no-trade as I recall. I can't imagine he'd waive it to go to Baltimore. LA, yes. Charm City, I don't think so
-
Civale has a few years of control left as I recall, so they very well should have gotten a good return for him

moving on from Candy was logical and missing out on having DJ Herz and Kevin Made join the Tigers system is something we can all survive
no disagreement. i was merely observing how the cubs traded jeimer six years ago at this time, and now they're trading for him at this time

You can still get those from retailers like Mitchell & Ness. Banishing that version of the olde english D was one of the dumbest moves of the Avila regime. And they tried to sell us on MLB pushing uniformity. Yet the Yankees still have multiple different interlocking NY logos.
