  1. My guess is it's not guaranteed 90% occupancy, but that they will be paid at minimum, based on 90% occupancy. After Covid was rolling and there were less folks getting processed in the courts plus the move to get people out of the prison's in an attempt to decrease the ability to spread Covid I saw a story about a prison that was at 50% capacity but the State saw no financial gain as they had a minimal pay contract setup with the private entity running the prison. Outrageous.
  2. In terms of actual reporting, I think they are among the best. In terms of what they choose to report, you definitely have more journalistic anecdotes which I guess you can say 'tug at your heart' and would be considered more liberal supporting.
  3. Well, CNN and everyone else just did what all media does now, report what others report, not what they can source. NPR, in terms of news reporting is about down the middle as you can get though, so that line is pretty funny from Tigerholic. My guess based on the response from the court today, Totenburg had a source that said Sotomayor was really concerned about Covid and really didn't want to be around anyone, especially if they were not masked up, possibly even with the understanding that she relayed that concern to Roberts. Sotomayor decides not to go into the court room, making that decision on her own. Gorsuch knows Sotomayor isn't going to be there anyway, no one else made any mention about a concern so he follows the science that vaccinated people without symptoms pose little risk to each other and chooses not to wear it. Totenburg see's Gorsuch without one and no Sotomayor in attendance and assumes Sotomayor stayed away because of Gorsuch.
  4. Fixed that for you.
  5. Just to note, rigging the system would require something done inappropriately. A party has a right to decide the rules on how they will determine who will represent them in an election. Rigging would be more like what Hillary Clinton and the DNC did to Sanders.
  6. I complained about Nessel recently. Just heard about this. https://www.detroitnews.com/story/news/politics/2022/01/13/michigan-ag-nessel-refers-gop-electors-review-federal-prosecutors/6521827001/ Instead of holding the case herself, which certainly would give her some national news if she pursued, the passed to the feds which may be able to use the additional states to setup a larger case against all electors in the various statements. Good move.
  7. I guess my point is if there is more known, maybe it helps with situations like my wife and can be used for folks that aren't vaxxed. For instance a type of test that can show a certain acceptable level to be able to put a person no more at risk than any other vaxxed person from getting/passing the virus. I feel like the biggest reason why we haven't seen much about that is exactly what you're saying. By researching/finding that, now you have folks using it as an excuse when it would just be easier for them to get vaxxed and with that comes a process already in place that helps validate it.
  8. I'll add as well, from watching what my wife went through, and still dealing with the remnants of, if booster #4 is recommended sometime this year, and my wife gets covid prior to it. I'd prefer her doctors have more to go on in terms of when she should wait until for the booster. Just a quick look online and i'm seeing, wait at least 9 days, 30-60 days, and some doctors saying 90 days.
  9. Seems like knowing as much about this virus as possible doesn't seem like a wasted effort. Add in the fact that just because the smart move is for everyone to get vaccinated, it's simply not going to happen.
  10. Additional variables makes sense, still it's been awhile though. I'd think we would have some data to give us a better understanding by now. How long has Omicron been around? Seems like it was weeks from it first being reported to having information on how the vax wouldn't have the same efficacy against it and the push for boosters in the hopes that would add efficacy.
  11. My understanding with most viruses is that you have immunity much longer than that, for that specific strand. The initial argument I heard was that these vaccines have been proven to provide some sort of protection from more than just the initial strand they were designed for. Whereas they weren't sure how well a person that had Covid, how that will fight other strands. Instead of ever hearing anything further, just seems like the medical community has just considered it a finalized issue though.
  12. I'm not arguing it should, but shouldn't there at least be a discussion about it?
  13. I think if early on the administration put some guildelines out on testing, for instance, giving public schools a roadmap on how they use federal money they got towards testing, how/when to test, etc, they could have kept more schools open and for open schools, kept students in them. Both of my kids have missed school days this year (oldest was fully vaxxed before the school year started) due to the fact that I couldn't find tests. Both of my kids would have missed considerably more school if I hadn't purchased tests on my dime. I'm in a position that isn't an issue, but many people can't afford to shell out the $10-15 per child, per day, cost to keep their kids in school. Add in some schools that took too long to open, despite the science saying it's safe for kids to go to school. As for the conservative approach, I was still under the impression that was more of a supply and demand issue early on and ensuring we were targeting the most vulnerable.
  14. Yup, pretty incredible how folks can manage to bend their minds to make things 'work' their way. Rules are rules, he got an exemption, but it doesn't hold up to their federal courts. I thought I heard he now as a 3 year ban now though. That seems excessive, I didn't read about it enough to know if he tried something unethical or whatever to get that exemption. On the flip side, he's already had Covid. At some point, confirmed Covid cases need to count for something, right? Plus it's just 1 guy. We have 170,000 to 200,000 a month coming through the southern border and they haven't caused any Covid issues at all.
  15. I'll defend Biden on the vaccine rollout. Early they just didn't have enough vaccines made. As for the booster, I didn't realize anyone had trouble getting that. Did you end up getting that right as soon as they approved it? Wonder if there was an early run.
  16. He screwed the pooch on testing. Complete incompetence. The argument is we had vaccines, we expected folks to take those. That said, we were told from the beginning this virus can have variants. We were not prepared.
  17. https://www.express.co.uk/news/science/1549017/wuhan-lab-leak-covid-origin-china-matt-ridley-scientist-crackdown I mean, at what point is it just going to be generally accepted that the lab leak is the most likely cause of this?
  18. I'm saying 'withholding' in terms of messaging to his base, not physically withholding it from the public. My hypothetical that pfife is so upset about is that I feel that if Trump won, once available, Trump would have pushed people to go get their 'Trump vaccine', instead of doing what he ended up doing as being a sore loser is more important to him than the lives of his base.
  19. I specifically said 300 million doses that would eventually get approved. J&J didn't get approved until after Trump was out of office. Which is why I said if Trump didn't do anything further after 12/23, or Biden did nothing further once he became POTUS, we would have had 300 million by February 2021 (I just realized I've said 2020 in error previously).
  20. Good grief, I read what you wrote. I pointed out that you missed the part in the article that says the Trump administration bough an additional 200 doses of Pfizer and Moderna, which is enough for 100 million more people. Hence the 200 million figure you posted, plus enough for 100 million = the 300 million number I noted.
  21. I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt that you truly believe this. Let's try again...same link: https://khn.org/news/article/fact-check-president-joe-biden-criticism-of-trump-administration-vaccine-contracts-and-supply-not-accurate/ And then later: So tell me where my math is wrong Original orders: Pfizer - 100 million doses = 50 million people Moderna - 100 million doses = 50 million people J&J - 100 million doses = 100 million people Additional order on 12/23 200 million doses of Pfizer and Moderna = 100 million people. 50+50+100+100=300
  22. To ensure I'm being understood, in no way do I feel those numbers represent who did better. My point was more about a data point that can be taken out of context. Trump's actions, on withholding his approval on the vaccine just because he felt he wasn't going to get credit for it anymore, is criminal and is the single biggest cause of all deaths since the summer of last year.
  23. I shouldn't let it bother me that you're refusing to look at the article which would show that as of Dec 23rd, 2020, the US would have under contract enough for 300 million people of Pfizer, Moderna, and J&J or you know it and you just choose to not admit it to be an ass. Truthfully though, it does.
  24. You regularly admit that you don't even bother reading posts that you don't agree with. Be better.
  25. Currently I can't find anything on Youtube, but the Bleachers ended up coming into SNL late due to Covid issues. Their first song really reminded me of Springsteen with some dualing Sax's at the end. The second song was similiar to more moden music, let's say the Killers. Overall I was impressed.
