These guys seem extremely confidant. I don't think Hinch would let that become a factor in the clubhouse. They lost people at the deadline last year and improved. They know what they are capable of. They "lost" an upgrade at third this offseason and that hasn't seemed to have any effect on them.
Prospects are valued so highly now. Right now I think they stand pat but an injury could change that. Maybe pick up someone who is available this year and next year.
I don't know for sure but Vierling might need some extra time to get back into playing shape since he missed so much time. Longer than the average rehab assignment.
I assume as an IL player, Vierling can't be the 27th man.
Skubal is making over $10 million this year and he'll get a significant raise next year. He's already set for life so why not go for the biggest payout in two years? No I don't think the Tigers will be the team who signs him and I don't think they should.
