I’m glad we grabbed Urshela—much easier to move/jettison if Jung is pushing this season, which I suspect he will. Chapman would have blocked him.

Last 2 bullpen spots are yet to be decided.
For what it's worth, Wentz and Diaz are both out of options.
And, of course, Brieske and Faedo have pitched better.

Does anyone who has purchased MLB TV know if the radio broadcasts are included, or have to be purchased separately? Recently took a hybrid job in the Chicago burbs and want to be able to get the Tigers on the tee-vee and radio.

I didn’t see this coming—Hope Manning doesn’t sour like Turnbull did last season.

Can Hiura opt out? Would really like to see him rake in Toledo and serve as Tork insurance.

No way Holton doesn't make this team out of ST.
Agree. I also thought Vest was being considered a shoo-in (though I don’t agree with this).

Who did we sign today on another team friendly deal?

I think there are parallels to the 2006 WS rotation.
Skubal - Verlander
Maeda - Rogers
Flaherty - Robertson
Mannjng - Bonderman
Unfortunately, it falls apart when you try and compare the position players.

Snell to the Giants. 2 years 62 million. Opt out after year 1.
Giants figured out how to get a free agent to sign with them. Wait until they have no other options with a week left before the season starts.

Not sure the value of all of the Baez bashing, unless it’s therapeutic for everyone. He is what he is—I think he’s trying, just has lost his ability to hit. Can’t blame him for accepting a guaranteed paycheck. And it’s not as if this front office signed him, so can’t rag on them.
I cope/rationalize that this is a sunk cost. I doubt he makes it to the end of his contract, and maybe doesn’t even get through this year. I’m OK with that outcome. I think Harris/Hinch will cut bait, If necessary. Of course, with no clear heir apparent, it is everyone’s best interest that he can become serviceable.

agreed my personal choice is Turning the Corner, Motown Metric, locked on Tigers and then last days Of Roar
Locked On was much better with Chris C. Not a fan of the new guy.

I give Harris credit that he didn’t let his ego get in the way and blow up/move the assets that Avila accumulated through the draft (at least not yet). For better or worse, this is Avila’s team and likely will be for the next season or two. Hard to separate the innate talent that was drafted from the skills development each has subsequently acquired.

I know a lot of people on here don't like Turning the Corner but I think it is the best of the bunch. There is some personal banter, but based on stuff I've listened to the personal stuff on TTC is much less than other podcasts. I've tried listening to podcasts from The Athletic, not Tigers-focused but just baseball podcasts, and there is much, much more personal banter and inside-joking on them than on TTC. For me, those are positively un-listen-able. TTC I can manage.
Agree. Once they get into the baseball talk, it’s mostly enjoyable. The other Pods each have a wink link that is hard to look past.

Turning The Corner.... With Cody Stavenhagen from the Athletic and his friemd.... probably my favorite overall the co-host can be annoying
Days of Roar ... with Evan Petzold from the Free Press and Mark Garosh ( who can be a lot full of himself and is a former Moton sports poster)
Motorcity metrics.... Chris and Rogelio mainly cover the Tigers Minor league system this is a Tigers focusted podcast ( Tigers Minor League Report is the other podcast/youtube show)
Locked on Tigers.... Scott Bently does mainly a game by game recap but also talks about the Tigers overall
Eat Em Up .... A new podcast from Jordan from the Podcastellanos... havent heard it yet the old show was more light and funny dont know what this version is like
Respectfully, you’re just listing them. Each is pretty flawed, but I suppose if you’re desperate for Tigers info, they could suffice. I listen to Cody, but find myself fast forwarding the first 5 minutes or so and dropping with about 10 minutes left to avoid the personal banter.

great competition going between Mize, Manning and Olson. Manning with the worst ERA but that mostly from the HRs given up in a gale one start - he has the best WHIP and K/BB of the three. Olson and Mize look neck and neck with Mize's weakness being too many walks. 2 in 4 IP today was better but still not great. This is expected after the layoff of course and may be why he gets the nod over Olson in the end.
And Alex Faedo looking like the guy they drafted for the 1st time since. He would be quite the bonus out of nowhere if he keeps pitching this well.
I would not be surprised to see a spring trade where Faedo or Wentz move to a team that could use one of them in the rotation (TX, BOS, LA, NYY) for a catching prospect.

4th rounder? Hate to see him in the division (2X) since he torched us last season. Might not be so bad with a rookie QB throwing to him.

We have no idea if Keith can get on base enough at the Major League level to justify hitting second.
One way to find out. I know all of the guys who can’t (basically everyone else).

I think Canha and Keith should hit 1 and 2 most of the time. Their ability to reach base should help Greene, Tork and Carp see better pitches to hit.
-
Any thoughts on a veteran backup QB? Will we ride with Hooker as the #2?
-
Keith Law in The Athletic has Colt Keith at #5 and Parker Meadows at #6 in his top 20 rookies to impact in ‘25. In his write-ups, he’s bullish about each.

That low BABIP is in no doubt thanks to Deivi Cruz locking down SS all season.

I like your standings, but I’ll flip Minny and Detroit in the AL Central.
